Tony nominee Michael Arden, currently represented on Broadway with the critically acclaimed revival of Once On This Island, will direct the performances, scheduled for July 27–29. Todd Ellison will conduct the orchestra. Additional members of the creative team and casting will be announced at a later date.
Interesting choice. Arden has so far proven to be successful at taking on contemporary musicals (Spring Awakening, Once on This Island). Though the classic musicals he's taken on to date (My Fair Lady, Merrily We Roll Along), they haven't been as talked about.
Carol would be amazing, but it's 3 performances. I hope they do all stars, instead of just Hannigan.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
