I have to chose one of the two shows, can someone help me out? I have a broadway virgin with me so I want to be sure she doesnt get bored! suggestions ??
Well, 'Movin' Out' is really more a ballet and if they're not into Billy Joel's music they might not see the point in it. 'Annie's about as traditional as traditional gets but it could also come off pretty lame to someone who's not already sold on musicals.
Personally I would say Movin' Out. It is a ballet, but still a wonderful show with the best choreography on Broadway. Annie is a "musical" so if you are introducing someone to the genre Annie might be a safe bet.
How old is the person you are taking? That makes a difference. Annie may give them the impression that all musicals are like Annie, no choice of Wicked or anything else? From what I've heard Wicked would be the best choice if they have any at TKTS. Otherwise I'd say Movin' Out.

Movin' Out is never boring. Annie could be great if it a top-notch production. It could be living Hell if it even slightly amateurish. For excitement, I would go with Movin' Out even though it is not technically a musical.

I have a bias on this one. Annie, personally, annoys the living hell out of me- but that could just be because I was in the show and I've seen the show done very very horribly. (One example: Annie was taller than Daddy Warbucks and it looked like they were getting married in "I Don't Need Anything But You".) Movin' Out- Have you heard the soundtrack? It's amazing. If your friend is a Billy Joel fan, that would help! Keep in mind that the choreography is the holding point of this musical, so if you dont like a lot of dancing this one isn't for you. Both of these are odd to chose from- they have no relevance to each other. If you have more choices, see Avenue Q or Wicked. I'm seeing Avenue Q tomorrow with a Broadway virgin! I say go with Movin' Out.

Movin Out is a reallllly bad choice to take a person to who has never seen a show before. They will think that every show is (dancing dancing and dancing the same steps for over an hour ) Annie is classic. And since those are your only two choices just rent a movie.
