WOW! This was my first experience with this show. I thought everything about this production was great! The performances, the design, the direction, the ending, THE BARE FEET! So poignant and brilliantly portrayed!

For those who have seen the NY production and the "tour" are there any noticeable differences? Or did I just see the complete package?

Where did you sit?  Did you have onstage seating?  Just how is it arranged, ala Equus?

I go on 10/8.  Hope I like it as much as you did - or more.

I was in box 1. I got the 10TIX discount. Not a bad view at all, but I'm hoping to see it again so I can sit on stage.

Approximately how many does the stage seat?

I saw it on Thursday from the onstage seats on the right side. It was a great view the onstage seats were really comfortable and held Around 30-40 people on each side of the stage. I sat in the last row  closest to the audience and found it a great view point For the show as u could see most of the action no matter were the actors were. The show itself was brillant, the staging and pace really made the 2hrs fly and the end scene was done so well. If i had the money and time i would see this production two more times as i feel u would see something new depending on where u sat.

No more than 50, I'd say

Jorge, I'm going next Saturday and sitting in box 13 I think. Do you miss much in the boxes? Excited to see this!

I was in the very front house right box and I didn't feel like I missed anything. So I'm sure the views from the other boxes are only better.

I'm quite jealous of where you lucky devils have either sat or will be sitting.

I, on the other hand, will be working my regular volunteer usher job at the Goodman on 10/8; and will be instructed to choose seating from whatever is still available prior to curtain.  Certainly it won't be on the stage.

And if it's a sell out, and I'm directed up to the booth, I'll freak.

I'll be sitting on stage next week. Today Tix has been offering $20 stage seats, or there's a discount code 30STAGE from the Goodman that offers $30 seats for anyone under 30(?).

I'm unfamiliar with the show (I know, I know) - would you recommend reading up on the plot/characters beforehand, or going in blind?

Go in blind.

Also, if you are able to sit onstage for this, do. It makes all the difference to be able to see the actors' eyes move and just to be that close. It's an intense experience, one that I will always remember as a highlight of my theatregoing.

Happy to see such raves for this from the Chicago press! This is heart-stopping theatre: I have never, NEVER, seen a play before this that received such an audible reaction from the audience: uncomfortable murmurs, loud gasps, even some talking back to the characters ("F*cker!" was heard at one point in response to something Eddie did or said). Truly a magnificent production of a play, I admit, I never cared for much before. But this interpretation is riveting. See it!

Saw this production on Sunday and I'm still thinking about it. Thank you to ColorTheHours for recommending I go in blind; it was such a powerful experience!

Though

The very end fell a little flat to me - there was all this tension when Marco confronts Eddie and the other characters are trying to hold them off, but going from that to the football huddle while the blood rained down was pretty anti-climatic. Seemed like they were focusing on the symbolism at the expense of the emotion.

Can anyone explain the significance of the timing of the drops of blood earlier in the show? None of those scenes seemed particularly heightened (though IIRC it was always when Eddie was speaking), but I didn't know the material well enough to fully understand.

This is the first show I've seen at the Goodman that I'd like to see a second time if possible. Will be on the hunt for stage seats on the other side that still fit my budget.

Jorge - I have never been to the Goodman but am encouraging my daughter to purchase student tickets for this weekend.  Were you in a lower level or upper level box?  Any thoughts about the last three rows of the Mezz versus the boxes?  She would have loved a $20 stage seat, but those seem to be a thing of the past at this point.

use the discount code MEZZTIX the day of! That’s how I got mine and it was only 10 dollars

"

I was in box 13, which was a third (highest) level box house right. I sat on the side closest to the stage and could see everything except for what happened directly under me, the significant part of which was maybe less than 5 minutes. Most of the play is staged center or stage right.

Thank you for adding your experience.  It's hard to picture the sight lines with some audience members seated on the stage, but you know -- for $10, it's going to be great no matter where she sits.  Thanks again!

I had the pleasure of experiencing this production from onstage and if you can find a spot in the front row, DO IT. the action just inches from my face was exhilarating.

I saw this again at 2 and this time at sat onstage. It was truly a unique experience and being that close to the actors was wonderful. That final image was even more chilling this time around.

jorge:

Did you happen to spot any empty seats... anywhere?

I'm volunteer ushering for Bridge next Sunday afternoon, and I'm hoping for an availability.

^there were many empty seats. Most of them were at the back of the mezz, but there also empty seats scattered in the orchestra section and onstage.

Going this Saturday evening. I wanted on-stage seating originally and I'm under 30 so I bought their membership, not discovering until afterwards that the  membership tickets are only for the mezzanine level. So that was a bummer, but I did get an email today that members get a free upgrade to on-stage seating!

Can't wait. I'm sitting in the first few rows, center, for the Fun Home matinee earlier in the day too.

Just decided to purchase a $20 on-stage seat on TodayTix for tomorrow's show. Can't wait!
