Hello, Phantom will be my first broadway show and I would like to ask people who sat in the Front Mezz Row A their experience.

I saw a picture that shows Row A has handrails in front and some walking space and then a railing. Does that obstruct views of the stage for people sitting in Row A especially for people with heights 5'3 and 5'5?

I have a choice of sitting Front Mezz Right Row A (the very first seats next to center) and Center Row B or C. Which of these seating options would be a good choice?

Thank you

This photo should help give you a seating perspective...go for front row mezz A!Phantom Majestic Theatre FRONT MEZZ Row A or B?

The centered seats give a slightly better perspective overall, but the Row A seats mean you won't have anyone tall who feels like putting their hair up in front of you blocking the view. I'd go Row A.

EDIT: Also, I'm 5' 8" and the railing has never bothered my or blocked my view from Row A. Stay sitting up and you'll be fine.

Bumping this because I am bringing my Mom to see Phantom next month and she is quite concerned with leg room (she is short but has some knee stiffness if she can't stretch it out a little bit). I booked Front Mezz Row B seats 2 and 4 (on the aisle) but am wondering if she would have enough (or more) legroom if I changed our seats to Front Mezz Row A in the center? In addition, I'm wondering if the view is that much better one row forward that it would even be worth switching?

It TOTALLY IS worth it to switch to Mezz A. That's my spot for nearly every show but Phantom was especially wonderful with that view. Enjoy!

I think the seats you really should want is orch k 1, 3 or k 2,4  or seats further down the row. The orch  is elevated from row K and the aisle seats in row k have an aisle in front of it so no possible obstruction and unlimited leg room.  Also, if you take mezz, you have to climb up a ton of stairs and then down a ton of stairs. So seats on the side in row k are just wonderful and far superior to anything in the mezz..

Michael19- that makes a lot of sense- we sort of decided we would try sitting in the Mezz since we have both seen the show many times but only from the 3rd row on Broadway which we thought was almost too close, and we also saw it in Toronto MANY years ago and sat in the way way back of the mezzanine there. The view from front Mezz in the Majestic looked so beautiful based on the images I'm seeing online so we were interested to see the show from that section.

I think she'll be ok with some stairs as long as she has a little extra legroom, so I'm still wondering if Row A somewhere in the center in the front Mezz has ample legroom or if I should stick with Row B on the aisle?

Just to provide a contrasting perspective, I avoid the mezzanine whenever possible. IMHO, it's too far up and away; the few times I've sat there because I had no other choice, I felt like I was watching the show from across the street. I lose my connection to the live theatre experience in the mezzanine. I might as well be watching the show on TV.

Lot666 - that makes total sense...I've sat front Mezz for many shows in other theaters and they are not all created equal. Front Mezz at the Shubert, St. James, Broadhurst and Nederlander were excellent, while the same seats at Richard Rodgers and even the Booth felt very removed to me.

I think at this point I'm more curious than anything about the view up there so no matter what I will report back on my opinion :)

Obviously it’s your call....the mezz seats you quote are both ok seats, with the b aisle seats allowing greater leg room.  But the mezz is really high; you will climb two flights up and one steep flight down needing to hold on to the railing.  Since you are paying top dollar for your tix, I feel badly that you avoid the orch seats if available.  I don’t know your mother’s age, but I suspect it would be good for her to have a good rest before all that climbing.

Incidentally, I know an actress who played Carlotta early on (you know her too).  Her house seats were in the mezz and she used them for a good friend who was an elderly retired opera singer.  Her reaction to all the climbing up and climbing down was kind of uproarious and tragic at the same time.  “Carlotta” enjoyed retelling the story.

Do you think it would it be better to get seats in M 1,3,7 or K 13,15,17 (Orchestra L)?

Row K is always a good choice since it is raised up higher than the front orchestra--even though you are over to the side it'll be a great view.

I'd go with row M. I prefer not to be too far over to the sides, as you can see into the wings from there and it tends to spoil the stage magic and take you out of the experience.
