I know these threads pop up every once in awhile but I'd be interested to see when people predict the current open run shows will close. Here's the list, my predictions will be in the next post
Aladdin Beautiful The Book of Mormon Cats Chicago The Color Purple Hamilton Jersey Boys Kinky Boots The Lion King On Your Feet Paramour The Phantom of the Opera School of Rock Something Rotten Waitress Wicked
Aladdin - 2028 (I'm predicting a slightly longer run than Beauty and the Beast) Beautiful - 2020 The Book of Mormon - 2026 Cats - September 2017 Chicago - 2022 (I think it'll get to its 25th anniversary and close soon after) The Color Purple - January 2018 Hamilton - 2030s... maybe longer Jersey Boys - August 2018 Kinky Boots - September 2017 The Lion King - 2040s... or later... On Your Feet - December 31, 2016 Paramour - December 2017 (or whenever Cirque decides to close it) The Phantom of the Opera - 2030s... (I think it will see its 40th anniversary, maybe 50th) School of Rock - September 2018 Something Rotten - December 31, 2016 Waitress - January 2018 Wicked - 2040s... or later...
Kinky Boots and On Your Feet! will be the first of that list to close. I think January 1 or around there. I also think Something Rotten, Paramour, and perhaps Jersey Boys could close end of summer. After that I'm not sure, but I think the next wave would be Color Purple, Chicago, Cats, and Beautiful.
Aladdin - Have no clue. Don't care. Beautiful - Have no clue. Don't care The Book of Mormon - Have no clue. Don't care Cats - Have no clue. Don't care Chicago - Have no clue. Don't care The Color Purple - Have no clue. Don't care Hamilton - Have no clue. Don't care Jersey Boys - Have no clue. Don't care Kinky Boots - Have no clue. Don't care The Lion King - Have no clue. Don't care On Your Feet - Have no clue. Don't care Paramour - Have no clue. Don't care The Phantom of the Opera - Have no clue. Don't care School of Rock- Have no clue. Don't care Something Rotten - Have no clue. Don't care Waitress - Have no clue. Don't care Wicked - Have no clue. Don't care
Morbid? These are all long term guesses. The op only lists 2 shows closing this year.
Pointless, sure....but not morbid. In fact, some of the ops guesses made me laugh.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

If you think it's morbid or not interesting, then don't read or comment. No one's forcing you!
Yeah. it sucks to be bored with too much time on one's hands.
I need a hobby...like trying to predict when current Broadway shows are going to close.
That should be TONS of fun.

It took me all of 10 minutes to predict... it wasn't like I went in depth researching grosses. But ok. Thanks for your comment.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

"Bored with too much time on one's hands?" As if this list just typed itself and hit "post?"
BroadwayMan5, I totally understand where you're coming from! I think it's a fun conversation to have as well—but I think it makes most sense to have it regularly on the weekly grosses thread. This way we can actually have a remotely informed, educated dialogue as opposed to utter speculation (to predict when Wicked or Phantom will close remains today a complete crapshoot).
To whoever said it would be hard for SCHOOL OF ROCK to find new kids: they've already been doing it. Many kids have left the production already.

I know trpguyy. It truly sucks being so bored that it's come to that. But there it is. In black and white. For all of BWW to see.

I'm familiar with the process. Just find it amusing that he continually complains about the thread and how it must be the product of nothing better to do, while contributing to it.
