Tomorrow evening, I'll have the privilege of seeing Mr. Hal Holbrook in his legendary one-man show about Mark Twain. I scheduled my visit home specifically to see his appearance at the University of Missouri and am really looking forward to seeing this show in Twain's home state.

Since Mr. Holbrook has been performing as Twain since 1954 I was wondering what the BWW Community's experiences were with this show?

I saw the amazing Mr. Holbrook as Mark Twain in 1962 and in 2004 (?2005) in New York City, and both times he was just perfect. It is odd to think that he was so young when he started playing Twain, and now is quite close (if not slightly older) than Twain himself when he did his one-man  readings. I am sure you will enjoy this. He used to choose his readings during the performance so you never knew what would be included but now that he is older, he may stick to those things that he is happiest with.

Saw this January of this year.  Sad to say that he dropped his cards at the beginning of Act 1 and was lost for the whole act.  Pulled it together for Act 2 and ended strongly with much of the Huck Finn passage memorized.

Amazing that he can still do a One Man show @ 91 years old.
