I'm thinking of going up to NYC March 8th and 9th, a Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm wondering if anyone has tried doing the lottery for Matilda, Fun Home, School of Rock, Les Misérables or Something Rotten! on Tuesday and Wednesday for the matinee? I just am trying to figure out if my odds at winning would be okay those days for any of those shows or if I should give in and buy tickets in advance. I really want to see Fun Home and Matilda but I know Fun Home is hard to win.

I haven't done much midweek lottery, but wanted to suggest Standing Room for Fun Home, as the tickets are cheap ($30) with excellent views (the theater is very intimate and it's a pretty much a theater in the round, so you can't really go wrong with any vantage point). Moreover, the show is relatively short without intermission, so you don't have to stand that long. And the standing room has plenty of space for each customer, so you can really lean forward or backward throughout the show.

But doesn't Fun Home have to be sold out for them to sell standing room? I wouldn't count on that.

right, I am a little confused by the policy because I have managed to get standing room for Fun Home and The Color Purple when there were still tickets available at tkts...though for both shows I bought the standing room tickets later in the day (noon for a Sat matinee and 4pm for an evening show).

I won School of Rock on the second try midweek a little while ago, but I think it's a bit risky when you only have 2 chances, since it's online. They do have a rush too, though, so you could just line up in the morning... From what I saw when I rushed Color Purple across the street from the Les Mis that rush is also pretty easy mid week if you get there in the morning... Something Rotten also has a rush, but I've never tried it.

I haven't done the Matilda lottery since its online, and Fun Home not since I saw it when it opened last year (it took long to win then but it's been a long time since).

Overall, since your only here for 2 days I think it's safer if you use the rushes instead of the lottery, it's just saver if you get there early (School of Rock is a hard rush, for the other 9 or even 9:30 should be fine, they might even have rush tickets later in the day)

I went out on a Wednesday and did the digital lotteries for the Matilda, Something Rotten, Fun Home, Noises Off, School of Rock, and Hamilton matinee performances a few weeks ago. I won the Fun Home lottery and it was my first try! I also won School of Rock, but I obviously chose Fun Home over it. We had tickets for the Color Purple that night and I totally recommend you try to get rush tickets for that show. Also, our lotto seats for Fun Home were in the 2nd row on the side, which were PERFECT! Best of luck! :)

Alright, thank you guys! Does anyone know if any of the shows I mentioned have lottery loser tickets? I've heard about them before but don't know much about them nor am I good at finding this stuff online. I tried looking up if SoR had lottery today and I'm not sure if I accidentally signed up or not. Like I was sent an email and I can't tell if I signed up to be able to sign up for lottery or actually entered the lottery.

You should also check TDF if you qualify. A couple of those shows pop up regularly. March mid-week shows should start showing up in another week or so.

I don't think any of the show have lottery loser tickets, since all of ones you mentioned are online, not in person. School of Rock used to have a loser lotto back when their lottery was online, but they no longer do. The alternative to the loser lotto is the general rush policy I guess.

it's impossible to know the odds as the lotteries are online. A wednesday matinee a few weeks ago I won both Allegiance and Something Rotten (both 1 ticket). Went to Allegiance. Something rotten has $49 lotto loser seats, and they're on todaytix for $37. Those seats are really good! Code GBMLZ will get you $10 off too. I won Les Mis lottery (2 tix) on a sunday matinee and noticed about 10 names on the winners list. I don't think their rush is too bad either. Walked by School of Rock a saturday around 1 and asked about evening rush, they had no more rush, but offered SRO (I didn't take it). Fun Home I second trying SRO spots. And Matilda I haven't been around since they changed their policies, but I imagine rush not being too hard. I know my friend won two tix in the lottery a thursday night.
