When did this start in the Times? Reviews used to be good, mixed or negative. It seems unnecessary. A seal of approval. You don't have to read the review even-just look to see- a pick or not.

I stopped paying any attention to the NY Times Critic's Pick when they chose Bayside the Musical as one of their critic picks. It  was one of the tackiest pieces of theatre I ever sat through.

I feel like they name so many shows a Critic's Pick these days that it doesn't really mean anything anymore.

I feel like every show now is a Critic's Pick but once SONGBIRD was named one all credibility was lost.
