Considering the show could possibly close without a big enough replacement for Hugh, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on who could still save the show.

Can Guy Pearce sing? He certainly received quite a bit of attention from L.A. Confidential and Memento. We know from Priscilla that he can do camp, yet no one has mentioned him at all.

Does Hugh have a twin brother? HAHA

I understand they're talking to John Stamos

Again with John Stamos? Is he The Master Replacement? I know how the guy feels. For years, every job I had was as a replacement for an actor that quit or was fired because I was a quick study and could step into a show after having the script for one week and only one rehearsal.

Antonio Banderas isn't appropriate but I think he's about the only one who could sell that show the same way Jackman is.

He'd never do it, but Elton John would be a great replacement.

Do you think Elton could do the high kicks with the Rockettes?
Would we want to see a bare chested Elton?

It's been mentioned before but I think that Harry Connick Jr. would make a great replacement.

I was trying to think of a replacement, but it just seems like there is nobody like Hugh that is a name. Hugh is probably one of the most talented actors in the profession. I cant wait to see him in Boy from Oz along with Jarrod Emick! He's also phenomenal. There voices together blend so nicely!

I wonder how his understudy is. Hes probably wonderful and amazing, too, just its sad that no one wants to see him. Being an understudy must be a really hard thing. Everyone gets dissapointed when they see a little slip fall out of their playbill.

I love the idea of Harry Connick Jr.
What about Michael Buble' (is that how you spell his name)

and I think that Sam Harris would be good too.

i luv harry connick jr's voice and all but personally i dont think he has a big enough name to fill hugh jackman, but i think his talent is more than there.

Sam Harris is a perfect choice for the character, but he's just not as high-profile as Connick or Pearce. The only problem with Connick is that nothing about him resembles Peter Allen at all.

They could marketing it with SAM HARRIS correctly and it could be really good.

I mean come on.. He won STAR SEARCH and got his name by singing
Over The Rainbow
Judy Garland sang Over the Rainbow
Judy Discovered Peter.

It has to happnen!!!

Are you serous when you say that Harry Connick Jr. isn't a big enough name? The guy has been around forever, played at the olympics, the all-star game, is one of the top-grossing musical artists in america, and sells out every concert that he performs around the world. he's a HUGE name! and if you take the "E" away from HUGE and add an "H," then that would equal HUGH. So, there ya go...perfect replacement.

I'm surprised, we are mentioning lead role possibilities and no-one has sprouted Sutton's name..

The only people who know Sam won Star Search are the fans who already know him. It's not like:

"Hey! What was the name of that guy who won Star Search back in the 80s?"

"Duh! Sam Harris! EVERYONE knows that!"

I not knocking Sam. I think he's amazingly talented and one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. It's just that few people outside the world of musical theatre would recognize his name.

Todd McKenney was fantastic in the original Sydney production. He dsereves a chance to play the role on Broadway. But, unfortunately, he is not a big enough star name to draw an audience.

I finally saw this show today during the quarter full matinee. Hugh Jackman is awesome and Stephanie Block is a showstopper as well, but overall the show is pretty much a bore. I enjoyed ACT II much more than ACT I, even cried during the "I honestly love you" number as well as during the "Once before I go" closer. It was fascinating to watch someone such as Jackman be a flamboyant queen after being so butch as Wolverine in Xmen. He is worth the price of admission, but I didn't leave too impressed with the score or book.

I think once Hugh decides to leave, I think the curtain will fall on this show...attendance is already dipping and the show is constantly on TKTS.

There's a big difference between trying to find someone who can play the part and finding someone who can keep the show running when Jackman leaves, especially given that the producers have clearly shown they don't think the show can go on without Jackman.

There are probably all sorts of people creatively qualified to play the part but that really isn't of much worth in the issue. It's who can sell as well as Hugh and I don't think anyone will have that sort of clout.

'Boy From Oz' closes when Hugh leaves.

I heard a rumor about Ewan Mcgregor. I actually think he would be pretty good.. if this is untrue, than I bet it will just close unless they get a HUGE name.. come to think of it, Ewan Mcgregor probably isnt even big enough..

Hugh Jackman was fantastic. He is a very talented, singer/dancer and such showmanship. I really can't picture anyone else replacing him.
