I was in the Kings many times and it is as big as a train station . Luckily it is being restored and will become a performing arts center

One not listed here is the Loews Jersey which is being restored and shows classic films. It recently had a pipe organ put back in. Across the street from the Jersey (in Jersey City) is the old RKO Stanley loving restored and now property of Jehovahs Witness)

A few of those in Connecticut in the picture I visited years ago as part of a theater tour

These photos are fascinating. Sad, but also beautiful.

They should film the ever-gestating "Follies" in one of them. That is, if they are still structurally sound.

Glad to hear Kings is being restored. Hopefully the others will too.

I thought of Follies too. But to film that, you'd need the same theater in its full glory for scenes depicting the characters when they were young.

Almost all the theaters here are beyond hope.

Many times I have suggested Follies in one of them. Enough photos are available of theaters in their original state and they could be recreated with CGI

The RKO Keith's in Flushing is in sore need of such attention and repair.

How sad but how magnificent they once were.Wonder why those beautiful[deco?]light fittings in Lowes Kings Theatre,Brooklyn are still there-they should be seen-somewhere-and there are many other beautiful lights,as well as those rows of seats--why let them rot-give them to community theatres.

Unfortunately the cost to run one of these is astronomical and way beyond a community theater budget. The Kings is almost. 4000 seats. The heating and electric bills would choke a horse./

The light fixtures are there as they were to high up to get to plus they each weigh a ton.

I actually meant to take the seats out and give them to whoever might have a need for them.
Appreciate that the lights might be high/heavy etc. but surely, before they come crashing down, they would look amazing in some hotel, office, apartment tower and not just left there for no-one to see them.

5he seats that remain in them are generally not worth saving.
