I am looking at getting tix for Kinky Boots in August and see options are already limited. I'm not generally inclined to pay full price for main floor tickets, but may do so for this one.
My question is if anyone has an idea of vacations or leads missing performances. It seems Billy Porter and Stark Sands, as up and comers, are less inclined to miss performances (perhaps) than bigger names in open-ended shows, but will need a break at some point. I know some performers have better track records than others on attendance.
Anyone know anything about this or can conjecture further? Much appreciated.
I hate to be that person but Billy Porter is definitely not an "up and comer." He's more like a "comeback" than anything else. Billy has been around for many many years.
Fairly certain, Annaleigh is indeed getting married at some point during this month- I even think the date may have been mentioned in another thread related to Kinky Boots.
The show only recently opened, and only recently won the Tony, so the odds are pretty slim any of the main people are going on vacation anytime soon. Usually that is more at the 1 year mark from when rehearsals began.
Usually Telecharge will tell you of any known vacations or principals when you are booking tickets. I know I was looking at First Date, and it had a note that Zachary Levi was going to be out on that date. Also, a lot of Broadway people post vacations on their Twitter feeds, etc., too.
"It seems like Matt1 doesn't go to shows for the shows but, rather, for the people. And that's about it. So sad."
People go to shows for a variety of reasons, they like the story, the music is especially appealing, a favorite actor/actress is performing. All are legitimate reasons. They pay their money and they can go for whatever reason moves them. Why do you feel a need to judge them?

Apparently Matt1 said in another thread that the only reason to see the show was Andrea Martin. Now he says otherwise. You are correct that people see shows for whatever reason (I've seen shows for favorite actors before), but something seems a little silly about Matt's post:
Any help would be appreciated! She [Andrea Martin] is the only reason I want to see this show.
Millie, his comment about Andrea Martin was related to her being the only reason to see Pippin, not Kinky Boots. There was no inconsistency in his comments, only a mistake by a few folks who were so eager to criticize that they couldn't stop for a second to recall which show Andrea Martin just won a Tony for. Do I agree their performances are the only reason to see those shows? Not at all. But it just felt like needlessly piling on a newbie.
