Ideally, I think Hathaway would have made her Broadway debut in a supporting or ensemble role rather than a star vehicle, but I guess with the Oscar win that's less likely. A revival of Cabaret with her in the lead would be a goldmine.

To be fair, Hathaway is no stranger to the NY theatre scene, her turns in the Encores! CARNIVAL (where she got a love letter from Brantley) and in the recent-ish production of TWELFTH NIGHT were a delight by most accounts. It's definitely not the same as Broadway of course, she didn't have to face the grueling schedule for an extended period of time in those shows, but at least she's gotten her feet wet and seems interested in being a part of the NY theatre scene. The thing is now she's going to get some of the best film opportunities of her career so I highly doubt she'd take the time off to do a Broadway show, I never thought Jessica Chastain would do that either and she surprised me by doing a Broadway show as quickly as she could, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

This would be a great intro to Broadway musical theater performing for Nina Arianda. Hathaway would be great as well but I'd love to see what Nina would do in the role.
Would love to see the Mendes/Marshall production revived. Just please don't remake the film. If you can't improve it (and you can't) just leave it alone.

But they can improve the film! They cam improve the film by actually making a film that is true to the source material and not some extremely butchered version of the story. I mean, let's be fair, the film is total garbage with the exception of "Maybe This Time."
It's just a different animal than the play. They boldly re-imagined the concept and, much like Chicago, cut out any characters singing that weren't part of the Cabaret (except Tomorrow Belongs to Me).
It's an opportunity that was missed long ago, but I would have loved to see Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft as Schultz and Schneider. A pity the roles aren't written for older performers, 'cause I'd love to see Mel and Cloris Leachman do it now.
As much as I would LOVE Hathaway/Cumming, I'd think it would make more sense that if she were to come to B'way next season, it would be in MY FAIR LADY should Sher & Davis really want her for the role of Eliza. A nice option would also be Kate Shindle. I would LOVE Zien for Herr Schultz.
Emcee: Alan Cumming or Amanda Palmer (I kind of would like to see a woman in the role) Sally: Nina Arianda: This would be a great musical debut role for her Cliff: No idea...Gavin Creel kind of comes to mind for some reason Fraulein Schneider: Like the Donna Murphy idea, could also see someone a little older like Chita Herr Schultz: Bring Back Ron Rifkin...or give the role to Chip Zien
If the Internet gets my hopes up about this for nothing again I will be so sad.
Samantha Barks as Sally would probably make me equally sad.
Amanda Palmer was a magnificent-beyond-words Emcee but that changes a lot about the production and I think if it's going to be the Mendes production I'd like it to be kept as it was. It was an added layer that worked really really well with what the A.R.T. did, but I'm not sure I would want it in a different production.
If they put it in Studio 54 (lookit, I'm gullible), would they convert the seating back?
If this happens I won't know what to do with myself. The Mendes production is my "if you could bring one thing back..." show.
I'm sure Mueller will be seen for it. Add her to the list of Nina Arianda, Carey Mulligan, Anne Hathaway and a bunch of other insanely talented actresses working today and you'll see why reviving the show is such a good idea. I'll add Scarlett Johansson to the list, with a good director (not you, Rob Ashford) she'd be a revelation and I love her singing voice. Though I have my favorites (I go back and forth between Arianda, Mulligan, and Johansson) any of these ladies would rock the role in their own way. LuvtheEmCee, I'm with you, I got super excited when this was originally rumored and I can't help but get excited all over again. Alan Cumming can play the MC any day he wants.

Mueller as Bowles? I don't see it. At all. She doesn't have Arianda's luminescent quality. Mueller never seems to step out of the ingenue or even ensemble enough for me to believe she would be a good Sally Bowles. I think Scarlett could be amazing if they NEED an A-lister. Carey Mulligan would be up there too.
Mueller doesn't have the presence, at least from what I've seen, to be a credible Sally.
Still think Arianda could give an incendiary performance (I'd rather have an actress than a singer-I saw Richardson and nothing will ever erase the memory of her performance from my memory). Arianda might be the closest we can get to what Richardson did on that stage.
If this becomes a long-runner like the last one, we will see LOTS of Sallys and LOTS of Emcees. I wouldn't be shocked if Palmer comes back as a guest star for a while after Cumming's run.
