I am a life-long opponent of the death penalty on moral grounds (and practical grounds now that we know innocent people are executed with some frequency).
But I really don't mind when a killer saves us the expense of a trial by taking himself out.
^I agree. This crap has to stop. Screw all the political talk about guns. When it comes down to it, these acts should not be happening nearly as much as they do. How many shootings happen in this country on a weekly basis?
"Life in theater is give and take...but you need to be ready to give more then you take..."
Bloody hell, it's nearly every day now these mass shootings, or at least that's what it feels like. How anyone can still argue that guns are a 'good' thing is beyond me.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
When the shooters take themselves out, it just angers me more. If you're going to kill yourself, why not start there instead of killing a bunch of innocent people first? It's the coward's way out so they don't have to face the consequences of their actions.

"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
So now people own guns because they're scared? That makes a lot of sense. Not the people who are terrified to even shoot a gun like so many of the posters on here. They must be the brave ones because they're completely relying on other people to protect them.
Guns aren't really for brave people for the most part, are they? They're for scared people.
Precisely. The biggest argument is that they NEED it for PROTECTION from...fear-based hypotheticals. Stuff that has never happened to any person I've even known who chose to own a gun. And growing up in Texas, that is a lot of people.
Though you could say that gangsters are brave. Probably a lot braver than Conservative Republicans, though they might be even when it comes to life choices.

Have you not read the dozens of stories in recent months about people who have shot and either killed or injured an intruder who could have potentially killed them? I know the mainstream media doesn't report on stories like that, but they do exist and I have posted them before. But everyone seems to completely ignore them because they prove that guns are not always bad and can save people.
Is it so terrible that people want to be able to protect themselves from intruders? Because break in's do happen, criminals won't go away just because gun laws are strict, and making more places gun-free won't keep criminals with guns out. And personally, I'd rather have my own gun to protect myself than wait 5 or 10 minutes for police to arrive, which by that point it could be too late.
How anyone can still argue that guns are a 'good' thing is beyond me.
Or that more guns means less gun violence. Or my personal favorite...hammers! If hammers are so much more dangerous, why aren't gun owners just buying hammers instead?

"Kids can learn the 50 states now just by paying attention to where nationally-covered shootings are happening."
And they can learn exactly where gun control isn't working, as we have seen in recent months when shootings happen in states with strict gun control laws.
"Or that more guns means less gun violence" When chicago put a ban on handguns, crime went up, because guess what, the only people who have guns there now are the criminals. What a concept! Criminals not obeying the law. Just like they won't obey a ban on assault weapons, they will find a way to kill people if that is their ultimate goal.
Well, if everyone should have guns, then why were over 5,000 collected in a gun buy back program in NJ? This was from the Associate Press, not a tiny source where I am getting this article from. they just ran it.

When this occurred, the comments from gun-lovers was that the witnesses should have all been armed with guns so they could've stopped the perp. And what if those witnesses acted brashly and shot an innocent bystander. Or one witness pulling a gun would lead others to mistake them for the gunman and be shot themselves? And who's to say that if those witnesses were armed, none of them might snap too at a moment's notice. The lack of logic by some of these fanatics is astounding.
Because apparently, more guns means less gun violence. If you want to stop all the shooting, everyone needs to have a gun. It's like religion. It doesn't have to be logical, you just need to say it over and over again until you believe it. You can try it yourself.

And how many gun owners are competent with their weapons?
Competency, responsibility and regulation are not mentioned in the Constitution, so they are irrelevant. Children should be able to buy guns out of a vending machine at school. You don't need a permit or lessons to buy a hammer, do you?
