Pantages in Los Angeles is getting: The Wizard of Oz The Lion King The Book of Mormon The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber Ghost Evita Once American Idiot War Horse
So what's left for the Ahmanson? Possible shows: Porgy and Bess Peter and the Star catcher Jersey Boys Flashdance A Christmas Story Newsies Cinderella West Coast stagings of Pippin and Edwin Drood?
Apart from Poppins, has Disney shows ever played the Ahmanson, I assumed they go to the Pantages due to their relationship with Nederlander so I assume Newsies when it tours will go to the Pantages.
I am very disappointed with the Pantage's season. As a LA theater goer, I have already seen many of the productions.
I hope Ahmanson gets:
Porgy and Bess Peter and the Star catcher A Christmas Story Newsies Edwin Drood
I don't believe they will get Jersey Boys as it is playing in Las Vegas
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
I'm actually pleased with the Pantages season. I'm excited for Once, Wizard of Oz, and Evita, plus I've never seen Lion King. Not too wild with the extra shows or the ALW revue. I'd give BoM another chance - I wasn't too wild about it when I saw it in L.A. in November.
I'm curious to see about Costa Mesa!
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
You people out in LA are lucky. I'd kill to have a season like that in New Orleans, that many shows in one season. We usually get five or six and that's it-despite having several community theatre companies in town, New Orleans has been dubbed "not a theatre town." This season we got seven, but that's because the tours of Stomp and Wicked were/are season specials.
*twiddles thumbs waiting for New Orleans's season* :-p
2013 Houston, TX - Sept. 3-15 San Antonio, TX - Sept. 17-29 Austin, TX - Oct. 1-13 Omaha, NE - Oct. 12-20 Denver, CO - Oct. 22 - Nov. 24* Orlando, FL - October 29 – November 10 Tampa, FL - Nov. 12-24 Fort Lauderdale, FL - Nov. 26 - Dec. 22
2014 Cincinnati, OH - Jan. 7-26 Los Angeles, CA(Pantages) - Jan. 21 - Feb. 9 Atlanta, GA - Jan. 28 - Feb. 9 Durham, NC - Feb. 11-23 Baltimore, MD - Feb. 25 - Mar. 9 Hartford, CT - March 18-30 Providence, RI - April 28 - May 11 San Diego, CA - May 27 - June 8 Las Vegas, NV - June 10 - July 6
*confirmed Denver stop on Feb. 25. **added Durham, NC & Providence, RI on March 4.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I'm fairly certain Ahmanson is getting Peter & the StarCatcher.
I was fairly whelmed by Pantages season. I'll see Wizard of Oz and Once for sure, and I've never seen Ghost.
I wonder how long they will be able to keep the BoM increased 3 week subscription series before it drops back to two. (I hope not for a long time as it gives more options for single tickets buying)
Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater is announcing their season tonight in a Spotlight Night special for current season ticket holders, but our local newspaper printed the article today in the paper (but not online).
I won't spoil it for anyone on the boards who live on Seattle that want to keep it a surprise until the "Official Announcement" tonight, but the touring shows they are getting in addition to the previously announced "Porgy & Bess", is "Anything Goes".
I was right in three of my predictions for the 5th's Season. Two new (pre-Broadway tryout) works, "Anything Goes", and a local production of a classic show that a lot of kids will get cast in.
Providence announced their season this morning (earlier than normal - they usually announce around the beginning of April). Evita, Once and Phantom tours will all open here this fall.
