Matilda is Terrible

It is about a spoiled child who thinks she is the world and should be taught a lesson to help her grow. But instead the parents give in and let her become spoiled by a teacher. The dancing was rubbish and Bertie was okay. But I do think it is saying that Matilda cannot become part of a family because she wants to stand out.

Okay.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

If she thinks should be taught a lesson to help her grow, she's probably not too spoiled, though.

So now not only is she "rubbish" because she isn't as white as you might like but now she's not worthy of being loved because her beliefs differ from what your idea of "acceptable" is?

I thought it was about rude, dark parents who never grew up and had a child who was wise beyond her years. Roald Dahl writes dark, funny books--obviously his humor is not your cup of tea.

I never normally rise to the bait over here but...

Millions of readers over the years and teachers reading the book to primary school children must be wrong then.

Also the critics here in London and the theatre goers have obviously been deluded about what they were watching.

In all seriousness, Matilda is the ultimate 'misfit' story with some dark humour (and a bit of magic!) thrown in. I understand if you are American (assuming sorry) that perhaps the tone, humour or taste may be not to your taste-it is terribly British-forgive us it's a terribly British book by a terribly British author.

I'd also love/hate to see those comments that have been deleted....I don't think the book ever stated Matilda had to be white....

I deleted them but I said dark as in you know dark minded. I have nothing against dark skinned people . She is dark as in has sick ideas of using her parent. She is a worried girl

OP stated that Matilda was 'dark' not refering to skin color and other posters were just poking fun. If in fact the op has actually seen the show they somehow missed the fact that M's parents are comically bad parents.

I suppose you could say that being thrown around by your hair is equivalent to being spoiled.

Of course you would also be a little demented as most people would consider that child abuse.

So, let me get this straight.

Matilda, who is abused emotionally when she isn't being ignored by her vacuous, manipulative parents, who has extraordinary gifts that her parents consider useless or are blind to, goes to school and finds ONE person who sees her potential, is spoiled.

But then she rallies the children in her school to overthrow their headmistress who treats them like meat with legs, so she doesn't want to fit in.

And in the end, she lives with said person who sees her potential and loves her, and so she cannot become part of a family.

So did you see the show actually, or did you just look at the poster, read a quick synopsis, and call it a day?

I forgot. Child abuse is a terribly British thing. I guess I'm just trying to rationalize it with my American brain.
