I know there are several threads regarding Ms. Ripley's absenses from N2N, but I couldn't find any regarding her stage door appearances. I know she came out to sign on Broadway, but would anyone happen to know if she signs after matinees for the tour? Thanks!

She doesn't. She's said she needs to rest between shows.

She didn't even sign after matinees, when she was on Broadway.

No, she never comes out after matinees, but just to set the record straight, she often doesn't come out after evening performances, I have seen the show several times on tour with her in, and she just sends out chocolates and business cards after the show and says she can't come out... so don't get your hopes up for seeing her after an evening showAlice Ripley stage door. Sad, but true... I wish she were in public more often!

I can't tell if the "chocolate and business cards" is a joke or not...

She does send out somebody (on Broadway, it was her assistant) with business cards, but I never got any chocolate Alice Ripley stage door.

She came out after every performance she was in during the tour's run in St. Louis.

Why would you need business cards? So you can write her?

On Broadway, when I saw the show, she sent out signed playbills after the evening performance.

that is not true that she came out after every show in St. Louis, because two of the times I saw her there she did not come out... also, the business cards and chocolate is true... I have gotten both multiple times!

I've only seen the show once (the 5th in DC) but I've been to the stage door every night since I've been in town (5th, 6th, &7th) and Alice hasn't been to the stage door once. she has had someone notify the folks outside that she will not be coming out, but I've yet to see chocolates or business cards. i know its stupid, but I'm incredibly irritated by the fact that she's let me and the 20 ot so other ppl hanging at the stage door every night. I saw reduced Shakespeare company tonight (awesome btw, if you're in dc, you should rly try to see it) and waited at the stage door for those guys and Alice for abt 30-45 minutes.
her performance was AMAZING, as was everyone else in the cast, but if you're going just to see Alice, don't get your hopes up to meet her like I did, you might come away a little bitter :/

Well, you said yourself that someone notifies those waiting that she isn't coming out. And you've tried 3 times and it's been the same - I don't think she has "left you hanging" - I mean it seems clear that she isn't coming out.

Personally, I'm very very glad she is doing this. Considering her attendance + apparent state of her voice, it is more important that she rests for the next performance.

There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. I just wish I'd read this thread a few weeks ago. and the girl that came out said that it's a night to night thing if she'll come out or not, but she obviously doesn't come out on tour

Well, Alice definitely needs her rest. I quote, "I've been crying every night except on Mondays for the past 3 years. I need a break." She deserves to stay backstage for a while after the show, so she can get out of character and calm herself. She's worked very hard on her performance, and she lets everything go when she's onstage for us to see. I'm not trying to say that you guys are wrong for being upset that she doesn't come out. I just think that she has every right to choose when she doesn't feel well enough to come out the Stage Door. :P

Delusional fans, ahhrealmonsters? I know she invites her friends backstage, but "delusional fans"? Her husband was kind enough to let one of his old band friends, myself, and my friends visit them backstage for a little less than an hour tonight, but we're nowhere near being "delusional fans". Sorry, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just thought that was a tad offensive to Alice. She's not the crazy woman she plays onstage every night.

thesixtyfirstpupil, do you know how many shows Alice has been missing in DC? (I've got tickets to all 4 weekend shows next weekend in Charlotte and I am paranoid that I will miss her, lol).

In all the times I've seen Next to Normal (phrasing it like that makes it sound like it was a ton; but it was only six total over the course of a year), I only saw Alice once. And she actually came out to stagedoor that night. It wasn't a special night or anything.

qolbinau, she sounded determined to finish her run, but I can't guarantee that she'll be on all four times. I know Curt Hansen should be performing during the Charlotte run cuz he has family coming then.

What is this business cards thing! In Philly the 2 nights I saw she didn't come out; after a good amt of time her assistant (I presume) came out to say she wasn't coming out.
