Aloha all. Just curious how many people out there are lovers of Sweeney Todd. What a great show. Don't ask me why I love it so much, I know its gruesome. For some reason its back comedy appeals to me, and I'm just nuts about the fact there was an actual demon barber named Sweeney Todd on Fleet Street. Feel free to voice your opinions on good ol' Sweeney!
There's also a wonderful silent film about Sweeney called The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I used to have it on tape, but if you can find it, watch it.

I haven't seen a production of the show, but I have the cast recording and have seen the lip-synced performance by Ms. Angela Lansbury on Broadway's Lost Treasures, and it looks to have been a great show. Hopefully someday it will be put back onto a Broadway stage. None of that, special engagement crap elsewhere in the city.
That has to be the WORST lip-synch sequence I've ever seen. I don't know why they attempted it without a music intro. I laughed so hard when I saw that a couple of weeks ago! It reminded me of some sort of Kung-Fu dubbing sequence.

Ah, my FAVORITE show right after GYPSY! I saw it the first time about 3 years ago, during my senior year. My college was doing the production and I just fell in love with it. From "Ah, Miss" to "Joanna" to "The Worst Pies in London." The whole score could make this girl cry...well, you know what I mean!! I can't say anymore!! Sondheim is a genius. I wish he could share his secret with me!! Sweeney Todd Live at the Philharmonic, and its DVD release, two of the most essential cd/dvd that MUST be in everyone's collection....enough said!
Look at my icon. Does it look like I'm a Sweeney fan?
"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."
I know what you mean BroadwayNYC!!! Everytime I see and/or hear "Not While I'm Around" and "Joanna" I once again begin to worship Sondheim's amazing genius. I love this show!!!!! (in case you have not yet noticed)
