MamasDoin'Fine-Yes for 13, not for Tales. Tales will be here for AT LEAST 6 more months, but I doubt they'd be here for much longer after that.

I know new shows are lined up for next year but this is a shocking time with so many posting notices so close together. They must be seeing one close and be thinking 'Oh well we may as well close too' -roll on next year! Poor Broadway!

I-I am literally devasted and crying, and can barely type.

I'm surprised it's closing however I think it's good that it has recouped before its closing.

Seems like the days of the long long run of a show that is universally praised may be over.

WOW that is so many closings in such a short amount of time, it's scary.

I never got the chance to see the show but I love the soundtrack and the few clips I've see of it, hopefully I'll be able to catch the tour.

Good luck to the cast and crew. =[

I do feel bad for the fans of the show and for the cast and crew, but I, too, am not sad to see the show go. I was not a fan.

I saw this coming, but i'm still sad
It's weird how man tony award winners are closing:

2003: Hairspray (Closing January 4)
2004: Avenue Q (Hanging in there)
2005: Spamalot (Closing January 11)
2006: Jersey Boys (Safe)
2007: Spring Awakening (Closing January 1re: Spring Awakening to Close January 18
2008: In The Heights (Safe)

"Seems like the days of the long long run of a show that is universally praised may be over."

a total reactionist statement. we all know that the economy is in the crapper right now, so families just can't afford the "luxury" of a $111 ticket like they did last year.

but once the economy rebounds, and people can afford luxuries, shows will have the usual long runs again.

this statement will only make sense if Wicked, Phantom, Lion King, and Mamma mia announce a closing within the next 5 months. I think all those shows are safe.

let's not all over-react and say that the long run on broadway may never be again.

Exactly. And a Tony win doesn't necessarily mean financial win.

I was just going to mention that, because I remember they made such a deal on the Tony's about the past couple Best Musicals still being open. I don't forsee Jersey Boys or ITH going anywhere soon, and I forgot Avenue Q was even open! Oops.

So much for it being "the next RENT".

I guess we'll soon be seeing bad community theatre productions.

Not a huge fan of Spring Awakening (though I do love the score) but, shocked and sad to see it go. All these closings...it's getting very depressing.

My guess is that prior to the economic crisis it would have tried to weather the 3 slow months early next year. Now the feeling appears to be get what you can out of the Holiday season & close it down before heavy losses set in.

I fear you will see a few more announce closings within the next month .
