For a long time I have read here the running joke of Loretta Swit and finally decided to google to see who this 'joke' person is/was.

Now of course I know and had no idea how much theatre work[good or bad] she had actually done.

Is it because she had been cast in such a variety of roles[Agnes Gooch !!!] and was she that terrible? Those Mash reunion photos do not sing praise for all things plastic.

She was obviously hired and paid to perform over a long career so was she another Faye Dunaway who should have quit long before she DID become this 'joke'?

The UK especially has managed to churn out at least one stand out from each of these types of shows. Jessie Buckley, who’s currently a rising star in Hollywood, was a finalist in the search to find Nancy in OLIVER!"

And alongside Jessie Buckley were Samantha Barks and Rachel Tucker (arguably the best of them, who went on to play Elphaba). But the public was voting and none of them won the role... These searches can be great publicity for unknown performers, but the Chicago producers must be sleeping a lot more soundly knowing they'll be in control of who gets the part.

So they just announced the winner with no mention of when she will be taking on the role. As Ericka Jayne is playing Roxie through March 29th, when is this girl going to play Roxie. It seems pointless to give the girl 3 months to learn the role, when most replacements are given a month at most.

The winner, Emma Pittman, is a community theatre staple where I live (although I don't think she was born in New York). We have like 30 mutual Facebook friends who are all going nuts.

Who's to say she won't be in the city for a couple of months just learning the role on her own but not actually starting rehearsal until a month before whatever her first performance date is?

It would make sense to have her start as Roxie around the end of March.  That way, she could be paired up with a wonderfully experienced Velma, such as Terra C.  I hope that happens.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

After watching the video, it was very clear that Emma would win. Her dancing was leagues better than the other two. But I agree that it's very odd they didn't announce her state date. It should be March 30, that seems obvious, but would they wait until the summer instead?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Wait until La Swit's one-woman (and 20 dogs) show SWIZZLE SWIT opens next season. She's planning to bring audience members on stage to do watercolors with her while others will be allowed to walk the dogs in the aisles. It'll bring performance art to a new level.
