It's amazing how she was discovered through a TV reality show and look at how far she's come. She's quite incredible

Yes, ChildrenwillListen! And people said such horrible things about GYTOTIW. That was the show that pole vaulted Laura Osnes to Broadway. She and Ashley Spencer both are quite successful on Broadway . Ashley Spencer has just been cast as Sherrie in Rock of Ages. I have said it before, I enjoyed GYTOTIW and wish there would be another one! Great way to discover talent.

There's already a show that puts contestants on broadway - American Idol.

"She almost would have played the Katharine McPhee part on SMASH....if only."

If she had landed that role, then this Tony nomination might not have happened. She also might not have been able to do 'Anything Goes' where she really shined on stage.

^True. I am so happy for her. I still remember five years ago rooting for her on GYTOTIW.

^ I was hooked on "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" and have been enthralled ever since. This feels like having a favorite neice elected president! Well, sort of like that, anyway. Congrats, Laura Osnes! Anyhow, it's certainly something to celebrate.

I'm thrilled for Laura as well. A great rising talent who deserves a nomination not just for Bonnie and Clyde but for all the work she has done so far...(I was thinking she would get her 1st for Cinderella next season, but clearly the Tony committee wanted her to be recognized now, maybe she will get consecutive nominations!

I remember seeing her on the subway, too - the Q, of course. I didn't even realize it was her at first, I just noticed the most beautiful woman a few yards away and thought she looked like a real-life Belle from the animated Beauty and the Beast. She is luminous in person and was talking to two guys about an audition she'd just had. It wasn't long after that that she was announced in South Pacific.

I didn't get to see B&C, but I loved her in Anything Goes and am so excited for her. She must feel like she's living the dream, in this Unorthodox way she's gotten to be a part of the Broadway community. How tremendously validating (not that she wasn't validated already!)

I was so thrilled when I saw she'd been nominated! I wasn't expecting it for her at all (though she does deserve it). So happy for her!

Really happy for Laura. I met her last november when B&C was still in previews and she was so nice and sweet. I loved her on the show... I'm glad she got the recognition she deserves!

If Osnes actually won, I would cry tears of joy for her. In a season where she was not even predicted to be nominated, her winning would be AWESOME. Most likely will not happen though. Jan Maxwell and Laura Osnes are tied for my first choice of winners for the Tony followed by O'Hara and McDonald. I do NOT want Milioti to win.

I'd resigned myself to the fact that she wasn't going to get nominated, despite being more than deserving in my opinion, so when they announced her name I was THRILLED. I happened to meet her after a performance of Godspell, because she was there to see Lindsay, and she was the absolute sweetest, most humble person I think I've ever met in my life. I am so excited for her and so happy that she was recognized for B&C.

Meanwhile, Max Crumm has faded off into nowhere. Good riddance. I never understood how he won that competition.

I would love it if Laura actually won the Tony Award. Does she have any chance at all? I haven't seen Audra or Miss Kelli.

I am so happy/proud of her! Unfortunately, she has slim chances of winning. The other four woman in this category gave exceptional performances in exceptional shows, some of which are still running.

She also seemed to have almost no chance of being nominated, haha. I never saw her name mentioned once as even the possibility of a contender. She's definitely the dark horse of the category, to say the least.

"I was sound asleep this morning because I didn't expect anything! Then my agent called and I suspected something. As soon as I got the news I just started crying in bed in my pjs. I'm so honored and shocked and grateful and the show is being remembered in some way. I feel like it's a dream and I'm so happy that Jeremy Jordan was nominated for Newsies, too! We've been texting each other this morning. I had plans to have a baking day with a friend, but now it will be sprinkled with extra joy."

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

It is so adorable that she was planning to bake treats for her dog's birthday with her friend for the dog birthday party that they are having. That is hands down the most adorable thing I have ever read.

No one mentions South Pacific. I saw her take over the role, and although I've seen about a hundred productions of the show and thought there were no surprises left for me -- she really wowed me. That scene when she's laughing at the idea that the two children are Emile's and then suddenly realizes he's serious about saying they are his -- gave me chills. In that moment I saw some of the most amazing and subtle acting of that scene ever. It's usually so mechanical and uninspirational.
And while Bonnie and Clyde may not be a great musical, after seeing her do it at Asolo, I HAD to see her do it on Broadway. I'm so happy for her well deserved nomination in a not so great show.
