MUST I WAIT TILL NOVEMBER 17TH?! Pictures up now on Donmar. Elena Roger looks absolutely stunning...what's that about? :P

Technically - no, you don't. Some tickets have been just been released now, so if there's another date you can and want to go, it's worth a try. And I love those pictures, although I agree, Elena Roger looks far too stunning (for Fosca) on hers. But rest assured, she really doesn't give that impression on stage. They do all look very appropriate for their roles.
I'm going in early October - I don't suppose anyone knows the rough running time for this? I'm slightly concerned that I may have booked an earlier train than is reasonably practical considering I have to get from the Donmar to Paddington for 22:15...
You should be absolutely fine, leaving the theatre around 21:20, I believe, and it shouldn't take you much longer than twenty minutes to get from Holborn to Paddington by tube. Eta - just like Weez said.

Oxford Circus? From Covent Garden? Heavens! O_O Holborn is *slightly* nearer the Donmar than Piccadilly Circus, but Phantom's right, that's a weird choice. If you fancy changing tube lines, might as well hop on at Covent Garden or Leicester Square. But as you don't have to RUNRUNRUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN (and are familiar with the route, of course!), might as well march over to Piccadilly Circus and Bakerloo from there. :)
I know I've said a lot about this show, and I seriously don't understand the WOS review (and some points made in other reviews). This production, these performances leave me shattered and emotionally drained in the best possible way. Elena Roger is mesmerising, David Thaxton is performing as if his life depended on it...
In Elena Roger, David Thaxton and Scarlett Strallen they couldn't have cast Fosca, Giorgio and Clara more perfectly. I was utterly mesmerised from start to finish by all three and indeed the whole cast.
SO glad that I finally managed to scrape myself a ticket for this. Will be seeing it on Friday 22 October and am VERY excited.

I saw this on Saturday. I like a lot of Sondheim stuff (Sweeney is in my top 5) but this is incredibly pretentious. An hour and 40 mins felt like 3 hours...
Saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was stunning in every way. Loved the original production - loved this even more. Did not find it even remotely pretentious - quite the opposite in fact. So much truth in the writing and the performances. The score is simply beautiful - and IMO No One Has Ever Loved Me is the greatest love song ever written (always gets me choked every time I hear it - and Thaxton did a fabulous job with it).

Word play in search of melody I think, but it would be boring if we all liked the same things. Like I said I like a lot of stuff Sondheim has written - this just isn't one of them.
Yeah - like yoyu said, we all like different things. I find the Passion score full of utterly gorgeous melodies that genuinely affect me emotionally with every hearing and think most of ALW's shows are melodically mindnumbingly boring while millions of people find ALW's music wonderful. But it would be a boring world if everyone agreed on everythikng lol.
