Just wondering what the rush line for Gypsy is like at the moment?? I am planning on trying for later this week, can anyone recommend what time I get there? Is it busy at the moment?

Thanks!

go on a wednesday, because since there are 2 show times, you have a better chance to get tickets.

Be there 1 hr before the box office opens.

thanks for that!! so it's not as busy then? When I was here last year I had to get there for 7am (Spring Awakening, Legally Blonde etc..) to get a ticket - would be nice to sleep in a bit this time:)

I guess I got there on a good day but last Saturday I went to the box office about an hour and 15 before curtain and got front row center.
All depends on the day.

What would be a good time to get there next Tuesday? I generally get to rush very early, but I'm wondering if I can sleep in a little or not.

An hour or an hour and a half before should be fine. I got there way to early on a Tues. and waited hours before anyone showed up.

I am just wondering if anyone did rush today and if they could tell me what time people were arriving. I am going tomorrow and was wondering if all the Tony wins have boosted the popularity of the rush line.

I did the rush line today (Weds).
We figured it'd be crazy & read on here that people were there at like 4:30 so we got to today at 7:15ish & only 1 person was infront of us who got there at like 6:35.
Next people in line showed up around I wanna say 8:00, give or take a few mins.

Started getting crowded by 9:00 and by 10:00, it wasn't insane but there was a good 25 people or so in line which isn't that much but if you're shooting for 1st row, I'd say get there around 8, maybe 8:30 depending on the day. The Tony's really didn't effect the rush line (except obviously yesterday)

The show overall- AMAZING.
Didn't want it to end & wanna go back ASAP!!

Ive done the rush at Gypsy 3 times, once I showed up after 1 for a Wednesday 2pm matinee and ended up in the front row, but pretty far to the right. Luckily, the crafty folks sitting between me and the aisle scooted over to empty orchestra seats and I ended up on the aisle.

On Tony Awards Sunday, I thought the box office opened at 10 (its 12) and showed up at 10:30. no one was there, when I went back around 11:20 I was the 3rd person in line, which gets you the 3rd seat from the right aisle front row center. I thought that was weirdly low demand, but lo and behold, Tuesday the 17th, people are lining up at 5:30. -- But that brought me to another lesson. I got there around 9:30 on Tuesday and was way way back in line, but I just figured I should stick around and I got the 2 seats furthest to the right in row K, which was partial view, but turned out to be super. The way the staging is, you don't miss anything but that little bit of the strip and part of the scene leading up to Mr. Goldstone.

I guess they give out orchestra partial view after the front row and the boxes are gone, but I thought it was a pretty good get. Front row can be a little freaky and you can't see the lower half of the actors most of the time (though Patti may shower you with torn paper) - so i wouldn't recommend it for the first time seeing the show.

Please excuse the fact that I saw the show so many times and so frequently. Despite that obsessiveness, I promise I can remain objective about the rush policies and seating features.

very helpful, thanks! so, since this will be my first time seeing the show...should i purposely show up a little late and hope they give me an obstructed view seat further back rather than front row?

I'm not sure. I'd bet next Tuesday won't have a crazy rush line, so maybe they wont ever get to the seats further back. Just stick to your plan for getting there early, and if you feel like it, ask at the window if they have rush seats further back. The window has been really nice when they're not busy and really cranky when they are.

no doubt, its awesome to have Patti's chin directly over your head, but, for me, it felt a lot different than seeing it from other angles. Still superb though. You'll have a blast.

I rushed it last Saturday and got a student ticket at around 6:00 pm. Of course it was the day before all three of them won their Tony's so I'm not sure what its like this week. But last Saturday it wasn't super busy.

Out of the tickets for front row, box, or partial view a couple of rows back which ones are the best? I sat in the box seats but i would like to rush it again with my family friend. Should I try for front row, or just get the box seats again?

So with front row seats, box seats, and the partial views (and do they still do 5th row orch?), how many rush seats are available? It seems like there are a lot. I'm planning on rushing this soon on a Sunday, but cannot arrive in the city until 11am at the earliest OR at 11:40 (the next train). Would I still be able to get rush tickets at those times?

edit - also, by front row... do you mean row BB or row A?

lottery, I've sat in all the possible rush seats and the box seats are by far the best, especially the first seats in the left box. BUT, the first row is still something you should do if you've already sat in the box.

I really like the aisle seats on Row A. They're front row and they're further back, so you can see more than you can see from front row center. I sat on the right side a few weeks ago, and the left side today - I prefer the left.

Which aisle seats are rush in row A? Just the far sides? or the whole row A to the far left or far right?

Also, what order do you think they give out rush tickets in? Ive never gotten a box, but I've gotten front row center, front row right and a orchestra partial view. I've never asked for a seat different than the box office offered me, should I be doing that? I've just assumed they have a set order of what's best available.

i did rush today! about an hour and a half before the show. They gave me Orch row L seat 28. Second to last seat on that row. It was totally fine. Brilliant show!

From what it looked like, front row would have been terrible! and so would the first 5-7 rows all the way to the right. However, those people seemed to be having as much fun as I, so i'm sure it wasn't too bad.

LOVED the show!
