Do you think anyone will film this legally? I mean come on $1000+ a ticket is a lot, and they did film La Boheme when Baz Luhrman did it. So I mean they need to film it so they can share it with people who dont have the money.
no it wouldn't all. it would be like when they filmed and sold the Les Miserables 10th Anniversary concert. The RENT anniversary will not be a performance, only a simple singing through of the show.
Well, I mean I know what the point is . . . but I think it would even be better if it was them performing the show live. Oh, why should I care? I won't be able to see it anyway.

I hope that there are some interviews with the lesser remembered cast members around the time of the reunion. I'd love to know what some of them thought about not being included in the film.

I have to admit that the tickets are a little bit too expensive- but I think it's well worth it. I'm gonna try raising money to go- only I have to raise a lot cause I live long ways away from NY. I think that it is going to be a great show- and even if they don't do the whole thing, it's awesome that they're gonna be there. Also I think that the 1,000 is worth is because it goes to three different charities, and you get a pass to the after party thing- yeah that would be awesome to go to. (If i raise enough and all the tickets are gone then I'm giving my money to the Jonathan Larson charity...but I hope that I get the money in time...)haha.

Or those of us in the nonprofit world, who also happen to live across the country. If I was in NYC, or nearby, I might consider it my splurge for the year, but with hotel, and flight, and you know food, it gets to be VERY steep. That night I might do a Rent party, with the movie. I do wish they had opened the lotto up to non east coasters. I just cannot see too many people on the West Coast taking time off work (or school!), paying for a flight, hotel, what not, on the very slim chance they would get a lotto ticket. And though I think the originals still look good, (Especially considering they will be on stage, and not up close.) in ten years I do not see this working. I also cannot imagine that some acting will not go on. I cannot imagine them being able to sit still for say La Vie Boheme, for example. (During that song I found it hard not to dance in my chair in the movie theater. Luckily I cannot walk, or I would have been very tempted to get up out of my seat and dance!)
Although I can see why the original cast should be singing the songs at the shows 10th anniversary. It would be nice to hear the songs sung by other people, as we have had the OBC the film and the soundtrack all sung by the same or similar people. At least if they had others singing we might get another recording. Yeah!
Having random people doing the concert to honor the 10th year of RENT would be stupid.
Like it or not, the celebration of RENT's 10th year is much more than just celebrating the fact that the show was a success. It is celebrating much, much more - it's celebrating the life and dream of a man on longer with us - and the people who were there when it happened. It shouldn't be done any other way.

I sent my card back today! I never did get to see the original cast on Broadway and I've said for several years that that's the one cultural/entertainment "event" that I could have gone to and didn't and totally regret... so, when they announced the concert (after I squeed a bit ) I started planning on how to do my damndest to go. :)
