Anyone who's done the show have any details? Precise vocal ranges, for example? Audition song suggestions for females? Thank you!

re: YF on Letterman  Jan 4 2008, 03:41:47 PM
I actually found Megan Mullally quite disappointing. Madeline Kahn, she ain't.

Roger Bart is adorable, Christopher Fitzgerald and Andrea Martin are hysterical, but the Letterman clip was pretty spot-on: the show is disappointing. A few cute moments, nothing truly memorable, a talented cast with not enough to do dwarfed by the massive sets and quote-unquote edgy humour.

Mary Poppins is right across the street, people. That's all I'm gonna say.

re: Specific short lines or lyrics that give you chills  Jan 3 2008, 04:05:02 PM
Wow, so many...

"Come back to bed, kid. Take me inside you. I promise, I won't lie to you."
"Just close the gate, I'll stand and wait. Jamie... Goodbye."
"If I hadn't believed in you, I wouldn't have loved you at all."
The Last Five Years

"And I thought, my God... I'll never have the moon."
Songs for a New World

"To love another person is to see the face of God."
"I am reaching, but I fall, and the stars are black and col

Young Frankenstein - Understudies?  Dec 31 2007, 02:05:56 AM
Are there any scheduled vacations/absences for Young Frankenstein as of yet?

I'm itching to see JP Walker try his hand at the Doctor!!

re: Worst Broadway Audience Ever?  Aug 1 2007, 11:35:05 PM
We're talking overall audience, not just specific people?

Easy: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Nine billion talking kids, garbage all over the floors, and constant chewing noises -- it sounded like we were at a movie theatre. The best part? The little boy sitting behind me who, for half of the first act, was pleading with his father to take him to the bathroom, and the father just flat-out refused.

re: Hairspray Reaction @ Your Theatre  Jul 21 2007, 01:05:55 AM
My audience (in Jersey) didn't do their research, because there was audible shock at the mention of "nice white kids" and the once-a-month Negro Day.

"I Know Where I've Been" got a round of applause.

Will the episode air again? I'd like to see her bit.
re: Wicked in the Bathroom  Jul 8 2007, 11:28:04 AM
I used to work in a movie theatre, and cleaning up after people who would leave such treats as used diapers was NOT more enjoyable when it was to the sounds of "Knights of the Round Table," "September," or "For Good."
re: Why was A Chorus Line even nominated??  Jun 6 2007, 11:30:32 PM
Having seen Les Miserables, The Apple Tree, Company, and A Chorus Line this season, I could not agree more with the Tony nominations and sincerely hope A Chorus Line wins. Les Miserables was a lame, lifeless attempt; The Apple Tree was cute, but not a show that really needed to be seen again. Company may have been inventive, but while the technique worked wonders for Sweeney Todd, it added nothing to this piece. Company was a snoozer. I'm rooting hard for Raul Esparza, because the man is a t
My High Fidelity CD was shipped today  May 3 2007, 02:10:14 AM
I, too, am ticked that I paid in cash for my CD in December, and yet people who clicked "Buy Now" a few days ago have already received theirs while I'm stuck stalking my mailman. I saw the show in Boston and have been anxiously awaiting the recording since, and hearing that pre-orders weren't priority upsets me. =(

Spring Awakening - the play  Mar 25 2007, 09:39:33 PM
I'm finding many versions of the play. Those of you who have read it, which one would you recommend?
does melky rape wendy?  Mar 25 2007, 07:29:57 PM
I think that Melchior does rape Wendla, and her "consent" is more giving up the fight than actually agreeing it's what she wants. I would imagine that she was torn between her mind telling her that being touched in that way was wrong, but her body felt that it was "right," and then there was the part of her mind that just wanted to be with him, and therefore decides to give him what he wants, in a sense, so that he'll be with her.

Mandy Gonzalez was a freakin' awesome Amneris. I'm just sayin'.
re: Best lyrics ever? vote inside!  Mar 20 2007, 10:57:21 AM
You're on the air
I'm underground
Signal's fading
Can't be found

I finally open up
For you I would do anything
But you've turned off the volume
Just when I've begun to sing

Come to your senses
The fences inside are not for real
If we feel as we did
And I do
Can't you recall where this all began?
It was only you and me
It was only me and you

I have to laugh
We sure put on a show
Love is passe in this day and age
