Changes in shows?  Jan 2 2021, 02:18:17 AM
I found a lot of the little changes to Miss Saigon for the West End revival frustrating because they were, in my opinion, done in order to make Ellen and Chris more likeable. "The Confrontation" really stuck out for this.

Pre-Revival lyrics:

Ellen: You said you lived with her, and that's all you were! Only one thing you left out is that you loved her!
Chris: It was just two weeks, that was years ago!

Altered lyrics:

Ellen: You said you slept and that's all

Favorite Glinda?  Aug 31 2020, 07:59:36 PM

I'll always have a soft spot for Kendra Kassabaum, who was the first actress I saw as Glinda on the tour paired with Julia Murney. I thought she and Murney had this really soft, sparkling undercurrent chemistry that reminded me of the book Elphaba and Glinda, though Kassebaum's Act 1 Glinda was too childish and silly for my current preferences with the character. (Though compared to some of the other Glindas from that dominant "Let's have Glinda act like a toddler hyped on sl

Anastasia Producers Sued  Jan 3 2020, 09:21:41 PM

Thanks for that update! Seems probable that acknowledgement in current/future productions was part of the settlement between the two parties.

Although it's funny--one of the reviews from the tour explicitly mentioned it being based on the play, even though at the time the producers were vehemently denying any relation. Oops.

What It's Like Being The Elphaba Standby  Jul 25 2019, 11:17:16 PM

I love Ricci's memoir!

I always think back to the passage where she discusses making a minor change to the principal's blocking (IIRC it was something like she removed her glasses for the "Yes, I've always been green, no I didn't eat grass a a child, etc" line at Shiz, which the principal at the time didn't do) and she was told in no uncertain terms to never do it again.

The passage related to the incident:

"Like every long-running Broad

In case anyone else was following this. According to the latest court documents, the parties reached a settlement and the case has been closed.

From PacerMonitor:

Letter Motion to Adjourn Conference. A suggestion of settlement having been made, this case is dismissed. If the settlement is not consummated within 30 days of this order, or an authorized enlarged date, either party may apply by letter for restoration of the action within 10 days after the close

Oscar Winning Screenwriter Adapting JEKYLL AND HYDE Musical for Screen  Mar 19 2019, 02:24:33 PM

Huh. I mean I always expected a "we're totally making a film version of this!" to pop up since it seems to happen for every musical, but not with that particular creative team involved. Interesting.

BCEFA Flea Market Collectors Unite!  Sep 18 2018, 12:45:25 AM

Does anyone know how often pairs Nessa's silver shoes from Wicked tend to pop up at the flea market? And how much they tend to go for? A friend is going for me this year so we're trying to figure how much I should send her on the off chance she finds them.

Titanic on Broadway?  Sep 10 2018, 02:04:33 PM

Does anyone know if the Signature Theatre version made any changes to the show itself? I'm still a bit bummed that the Thom Southerland version (the one which was in Toronto a few years back and IIRC is currently touring in the UK) never took off in the US. I thought the way they changed a few things to sort of center the show around Bruce Ismay gave it more structure.

Christy Altomare posted a photograph of the real Anastasia on her Instagram with the caption "You are remembered."

I didn't see any other mentions of it on the actresses' social media or the show's official instagram/twitter pages.

Anastasia Producers Sued  Apr 5 2018, 10:41:58 PM

Finally an update. The case is set to go to trial after one more meeting to determine if there is any more discovery left.

Here's an article with the judge's statement after he once again denied McNally's motion to dismiss:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/anastasia-musical-lawsuit-steps-trial-as-judge-evaluates-similarities-historical-fiction-1099289

The judge's summary is pretty interesting and fits what I expected based on reading what I could of the case's various statements/motions/exhibits (except what was sealed which sadly is most of the interesting stuff) through pacermonitor. Anyone interested in the case should definitely read through the whole judge statement in that article.

FROZEN Previews  Mar 12 2018, 01:24:43 PM

BroadwayLuv2 said: "Anyone know why they aren't selling Merch online? I Went to the show on Thursday and decided not to look at the merchandise stand since it was so crowded in the lobby and thought I would check it out online. Much to my dismay the website says the merchandise is exclusively sold at the theater. Is this what most shows do? Is it just like this for previews?"

It would be very unusual if it's kept exclusive to the theater. From what I remember

Shen Yun reviews  Jan 5 2018, 10:31:39 AM

No, don't waste your money. It's not worth it. I was unfortunate enough to fall for the commercials and endless posters and advertisements, and it was.... a bizarre and strange night.

About 1/3 of the performances consisted of women in colorful dresses with big sleeves swishing around in almost identical dances--visually pretty but nothing spectacular or interesting about them. If you've seen the commercials, then you've seen all there is to know about the dances. It&#3

Titanic Revival  Nov 23 2017, 10:04:24 PM

2-3 years ago the rumor was that the Southerland production was going to be revived on Broadway after an American tour, but it didn't sell too well in Toronto (although it was a beautiful show and performance) and the only American stop was cancelled. The Southerland version is currently on tour in the UK I think--or it was a few months ago, anyway.

It'd be neat to see a limited engagement with this particular staging.

Does anyone know if the Signature Theatre version th

Hunchback of Notre Dame  Nov 5 2017, 04:16:56 PM

The cast recording is the Papermill version of the show, but IIRC the only significant difference music-wise between La Jolla and Papermill is a single song (the Thai Mol Pyas/tavern song).

Do you prefer the broadway or West End bubble dress?  Oct 2 2017, 11:22:43 PM

I prefer the original German production dress the most.

Though as StephieElise said, there's not just "Broadway" or "West End." The dress has changed many times over the years, even within the same productions.

Glad they did the whole number and not just a snippet! But oh how I wish they had Anya dancing (even without the costume change as in the film) instead of standing still for 98% of the song holding the box.

I am quite annoyed that the Tony Voter GHD booklet I passed on for $5 is listed on eBay for $99. I passed on it because I didn't know what I would do with it and thought another fan would want it more. I should have just bought it and given it away on here. Ugh."

I think I saw listings from the same seller. Just ONE of the Anastasia "fake Anastasia" letters which sold at the market in bundles of 4 for $10 is on ebay for $99. Rid

I'm curious if there was anything special at the Anastasia or Waitress tables that I missed (besides signed windowcards, Playbills, etc.)."

For Anastasia, someone on Tumblr found letters from the Anastasia claimants to the grandmother used in the show and a Russian "Wanted" poster with Dimitri, Vlad and Anya's faces on them.

BCEFA FLEA MARKET COLLECTORS UNITE!!  Sep 24 2017, 08:28:59 PM

If anyone has any extra Anastasia items they picked up and would be willing to sell please PM me! The friend who was going to pick things up for me got sick and couldn't go.

BCEFA FLEA MARKET COLLECTORS UNITE!!  Sep 12 2017, 09:43:02 PM

How common are prop pieces at the flea market? II'm not in NYC but a friend of mine is going and they offered to pick up some things and I'm hoping to get some props from Wicked or if they have any out, Anastasia.
