Photos: Red Branch Theatre Company's SPELLING BEE

Audiences and critics agree that The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, now playing at Red Branch Theatre Company is not to be missed! According to a review from opening week-end, Red Branch is "One of the most consistently excellent theatres in the region.... [This show] is another reason, if you haven't done so already, to put Red Branch on your map."- Brett Englar, BroadwayWorld.com. Running through May 1, this uproarious play, directed by Jenny Male, promises a spell of enjoyment!

This play depicts six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. It is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team, with music and lyrics by William Finn and book by Rachel Sheinkin has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. They learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.
