The Dramatists Guild Fund presented their Madge Evans and Sidney Kingsley Award to actress Audra McDonald and playwright Craig Lucas just last night. McDonalad was unable to attend the event due to her SHUFFLE ALONG schedule, but the show went on and BroadwayWorld was also there for the festivities. Check out photos below!

Cirque du Soleil Theatrical will soon present Cirque du Soleil -PARAMOUR, the organization's first production created specifically for Broadway. PARAMOUR will begin previews on Saturday, April 16, 2016 and open on Broadway on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Lyric Theatre (213 West 42nd Street). The company met the press yesterday and you can go inside the special preview below!

Actress and filmmaker Rita Gam passed away earlier this month from respiratory failure. She was 88 years old. Gam was born Rita MacKay in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Belle (Fately), who was born in Romania, and Milton A. MacKay, who was born in Alsace-Lorraine, to parents from Romania. She took on the surname of her stepfather, Russian-born Benjamin Gam. Gam was raised in New York City.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Patty Duke, who received a supporting actress Oscar for the role of Helen Keller in THE MIRACLE WORKER, died at age 69.

Plácido Domingo took time out from his busy rehearsal schedule at the Metropolitan Opera to catch the hit new comic opera ¡Figario! (90210) at the Duke on 42nd Street.  

Vineyard Theatre, in association with La Jolla Playhouse andYale Repertory Theatre will present the New York premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at The Vineyard (108 East 15th Street). As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Kenneth Joseph 'Ken' Howard, Jr., a Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor and president of the performers union SAG-AFTRA died today at his home near Los Angeles. He was 71.

Primary Stages will soon present Exit Strategy, a New York premiere by Ike Holter (Hit the Wall)and directed by Kip Fagan (Grand Concourse). The limited engagement runs March 30 - May 6, 2016 at Primary Stages at the Cherry Lane Theatre and features Michael Cullen, Aime Donna Kelly, Rey Lucas, Deirdre Madigan, Christina Nieves, Brandon J. Pierce, and Ryan Spahn. Opening night is Tuesday, April 12at 8PM. Exit Strategy is produced in association with Philadelphia Theater Company.

The Public Theater presents the world premiere play Dry Powder by Sarah Burgess, directed by Thomas Kail. Part of Oskar Eustis' 10th Anniversary season, this deliciously funny new drama about the people shaping, and skewing, the American economy has been extended a final week to Sunday, May 1.
