Stephen is also the cabaret/ music and co-theatre editor of the Times Square Chronicles. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music. Besides being a pianist, Stephen’s business career was in the Fashion Industry. He was CEO of a textile manufacturing facility and President of an international textile machinery company. Stephen was on the Board of Directors of the “First All Children’s Theatre” which brought the Stephen Schwartz musical The Trip and Captain Louie to the Kennedy Center in Wash DC. His wife Eda, an interior space designer and classical pianist was on the Board of Barrington Stage Company and is still active at BSC. He is active in the entertainment events at the Friars Club, where he is a member, and a voting member Berkshire Theatre Critics Association. Barrington Stage Company presented the phenomenally entertaining Fyvush Finkel in a show that is a musical celebration of the 91 year old's long career last night. It is fitting that after a sold out run of his 54 Below nightclub debut Mr. Finkel chose William Finn's Cabaret as his next cabaret appearance. Berkshire audiences were treated to this masterful entertainer who 80 years ago was a star in the pre broadway Yiddish Theater. PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST featured Ms. Lavin and Mr. Bakunas in a 90-minute intimate evening during which Ms. Lavin answers questions about her life and career, posed by her husband while he paints her portrait on stage. An evening of warmth, romance, humor and nostalgia, the couple has previously performed the program at venues around the country.
