Humor has always been a major element of the Friars Experience and a new generation of younger comics and audiences are now becoming a part of that history. The club is bringing the brightest young comedians to the place where many jokes and laughs have been heard .The Milton Berle Room of the Friars Club.

The Alumni of the Wagner College Theatre Department kicked off a year-long celebration of their department's 50th Anniversary with a variety show at The Green Room 42 at Yotel last night and Broadwayworld was there for the extraordinary Alummni Cabaret Show.

The 92Y had a swinging start to it's Lyrics & Lyricists Series this weekend with a blockbuster show celebrating the life and music of Bobby Darin. Ted Chapin with his first undertaking as L&L producer created a fascinating and entertaining production which had many in the 92Y audience commenting 'move it to Broadway.' In fact the 5 day event had many Broadway producers in attendance as the buzz about the show travelled from 92nd street to 42 street.

Steven Maglio is having a great time and so are his audiences. The most common compliment paid to Maglio according to his web-site is, If Frank Sinatra heard the way you sing his songs he'd be proud. Steve goes on to state that he hopes that's true 'cause I'm having a great time.'

The stirring original song co-written by Anthony Nunziata is titled The Gift Is You , however the real Gift to anyone who gets turned on by a world class entertainment experience are Will & Anthony. Their cabaret act at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach had the kind of thrilling effect on the packed Royal Room audience that brought back memories of what it was like when the great acts in the golden age of nightclubs charged onto the stage of The Copacabana or Persian Room in New York City.

Don't Tell Mama but I'm sure production coordinator Desiree McKim will be telling Live at Lynn producer Jan McArt (who couldn't attend) how the audience was enthralled by Sidney's performance last night.

When the Grammy Nominations were announced, Clint Holmes, one of the most exciting and musically creative entertainers to ever appear on a stage said the following, This is an incredible feeling and a real achievement for everyone who made the album ( Rendezvous ) happen. As you know, this was a long process, and receiving a Grammy nomination is something we really did want, even if we felt we didn't want to jinx our chances by talking about it.

Tough guy Robert Davi, one of the most recognizable actors on the planet made his Colony Hotel Royal Room debut last night and BroadwayWorld was there. The tough guy charmed the tough Palm Beach audience with his Sinatra style singing and persona. Check out photos below!

There are two venues in the world that offer a combination of old world ambience and great entertainment. In Manhattan it's Cafe Carlyle in The Carlyle and in Palm Beach Florida the historic Colony Hotel's Royal Room shares the distinction. Broadway and TV star Mario Cantone brought a little shock and awe to the historic resort town which was established by Henry Morrison Flagler in the early 1900's.

Recently Co-Producer Jamie deRoy & some friends visited John backstage as the blackboard was being prepared for another lesson in Latin history and current events that has audiences rollicking at Studio 54. A Swinging Birdland Christmas is in its eighth year at the legendary club and the tradition of inspired vocal arrangements, harmonies, and rhythms by Klea Blackhurst, Jim Caruso, and Billy Stritch are being applied to a great new holiday song list.

As Michael Feinstein say at the start of his show, (with the emphasis on CH) it's the CHOLIDAY season. Michael shows always combine his wonderful musicianship, fantastic wit and American Songbook knowledge to create a memorable evening. His current holiday show is extra special. Joining Michael were two wonderful back up singers, Eliza Bake (from Latvia) and La Juan (from NYC). With arrangements by music director Tedd Firth and Pete Smith, guitar, Phil Palombi, bass, and Mark McLean drums, Christmas Crooners is a fantastic Christmas present you can give yourself.

No, it wasn't his Bar Mitzvah even though it's Steve's 13th year playing the Holiday Month at Cafe Carlyle. However it sure was a joyous evening of music and love as Steve Tyrell's family of fans from NYC and around the country were there to enjoy his show and celebrate Steve's birthday.

With the Statue of Liberty gazing on from the harbor at the Museum of Jewish Heritage at Battery Place Jerry Zaks, 4-Time Tony Award-Winning Director was honored at a fantastic Benefit Concert last night and BroadwayWorld was there.

It's a one-of-a kind, intimate show highlighting Oscar Hammerstein's journey to become Broadway's greatest lyricist through curated documentary story-telling and imaginative performances.

Last night The York Theatre Company honored the musical theatre writing team of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt in a Fantastick gala concert and award ceremony directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. The 2017 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre was presented to the legendary team (The Fantasticks, I Do, I Do!, 110 in the Shade, Celebration) at the event held at the Asia Society on Park Ave in NYC and BroadwayWorld was there. Tony Yazbeck took us on his life's journey at The Green Room 42 last night and the trip started from his long hours of practice in his dingy basement as a youngster in Pennsylvania to his successes (and failures) on the Broadway stage.

Stritch hides behind the mantra of Musical Director, Arranger, Songwriter, vocal and piano accompanist for some of the most talented and famous performers on the planet the majority of the times you see him. However, It comes as no surprise to his many fans that when he decides to feature himself and go solo it's an event not to be missed.
