Extravagant Inventions: The Princely Furniture of the Roentgens, on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art October 30, 2012, through January 27, 2013, will be the first comprehensive survey of the Roentgen family's cabinetmaking firm from 1742 to its closing in the early 1800s. Some 60 pieces of furniture, many of which have never before been lent outside Europe, and several clocks will be complemented by paintings, including portraits of the Roentgen family, and prints that depict the masterpieces of furniture in contemporary interiors.

A legendary Irish rebel writer at his best inspires the critically acclaimed one-man sensation A Broth of a Boy, the staged life chronicle uniting the scripts, stories and song of notorious IRA renegade Brendan Behan. Arguably the most colorful Irish writer of the twentieth century, A Broth of a Boy brings to light Behan's stormy career, famed for his boisterous behavior as much as for humor, power and compassionate writings. As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Joan Roberts, the stage and film actress who created the role of 'Laurey' in the original 1943 production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA!, died on Monday August 13, in Stamford, Connecticut.
