Happy Birthday, James Corden! In 2004, Corden played the role of Timms in the original London stage production of Alan Bennett's play The History Boys, as well as in the Broadway, and Sydney productions. In 2011 he attracted international attention as the lead in the award-winning comedy play One Man, Two Guvnors, which transferred from the National Theatre to the West End and then to Broadway, and was also cinecast worldwide via National Theatre Live. For his ongoing Broadway run of the play, Corden won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play.

According to Deadline.com, playwright David Mamet is currently working on writing a pilot for a new version of 'Have Gun - Will Travel' for CBS. Mamet will also direct the pilot, which will be based off of the 1957 Western drama of the same name.

A new trailer for Lifetime's all-African-American remake of STEEL MAGNOLIAS has just been released by the cable network. Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah has signed on to star in and executive produce the television adaptation of the iconic play and 1989 film of the same name, reuniting her with her producing duo Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, from the Oscar and Golden Globe winning Chicago and Hairspray. (Zadan and Meron also produce Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva and Smash.) She will take on the role of 'M'Lynn' and star alongside an all-star cast that includes Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad as 'Clairee,' Golden Globe and multiple Emmy winner Alfre Woodard as 'Ouiser,' Grammy winner Jill Scott as 'Truvy,' Adepero Oduye as 'Annelle,' and Condola Rashad as 'Shelby.' Broadway's Leslie Kritzer joins the cast of Rick Crom's Off-Broadway musical revue NEWSical the Musical beginning Sept. 8. Internet gossip columnist Perez Hilton was announced last week as joining the cast of the long-running show.

Grammy® and Tony Award-Winner Heather Headley announces her new CD, Only One In The World, slated for release on September 25, 2012, featuring new songs penned by Headley, R&B hits, familiar favorites and a cut from the upcoming production of The Bodyguard: A New Musical in which Headley makes her London West End debut this fall. The highly-anticipated CD project is released by in:ciite Media and its distribution partner EMI-CMG Distribution.

According to a report by The Sun, the new Annie film starring Willow Smith will begin production in Spring 2013 in New York City. The film is being developed by Sony Pictures and produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's Production Company, Overbrook Entertainment. In January of 2011, Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said in a statement, 'The time is right to bring back 'Annie' to the big screen. Of course, we're true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role.' Emma Thompson has signed on to write the screenplay.

Walnut Street Theatre opens its landmark 204th season with the American premiere of Erich Segal's LOVE STORY, the musical. Broadway is coming to lower Manhattan when United Airlines' "Taste of Broadway" concert happens at the World Financial Center Plaza on Thursday, August 23rd at 12:30pm. This free outdoor concert, produced by The Broadway League in partnership with Arts Brookfield, will feature star performances from new shows and long-running favorites.

Today in 1983, La Cage Aux Folles opened at the Palace Theatre, where it ran for 1761 performances. With a book by Harvey Fierstein and lyrics and music by Jerry Herman, it is based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret. The original 1983 Broadway production received nine nominations for Tony Awards and won six, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. The success of the musical spawned a West End production and several international runs. The 2004 Broadway revival won the Tony Award for Best Revival, the 2008 London revival garnered the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. The 2010 Broadway revival was nominated for eleven Tony Awards, winning the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. La Cage aux Folles is the only musical which has won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical twice and the only show that has won a Best Production Tony Award (Best Musical or Best Revival of a Musical) for each of its Broadway productions.

According to her Facebook page, Broadway veteran Tovah Feldshuh will guest star on USA's 'Covert Affairs.' She writes: 'Latest news: flying to Toronto to shoot COVERT AFFAIRS. I've been asked to play the head of Israeli intelligence. I'm not Israeli, but I hope I'm intelligent-two scenes are in Hebrew!'
