Tony and Grammy Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with Tony Award winners Tom Kitt, Jeff Whitty, Alex Lacamoire, Amanda Green and other members of the creative team behind the hit new Broadway show Bring it On: The Musical will be featured guests at an upcoming fundraiser for Amber Charter School. The event, to be held on Thursday, October 4th, will honor the school's founder - and Lin-Manuel's father - Luis A. Miranda, Jr. Guests will attend a pre-show reception at Trattoria Dopo Teatro, followed by a special performance of Bring It On: The Musical at the St. James Theater. Funds raised at the benefit will support direct academic intervention for Amber's young students in an Upper Manhattan district which has traditionally faced tough challenges with literacy and learning achievement.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell are thrilled to announce the cast of "Beat Generation" by Jack Kerouac. Directed by Charles Towers, Kerouac's long-lost play will finally be heard for the first-time in his hometown as the centerpiece of the 2012 Jack Kerouac Literary Festival. Today in 2003, Little Shop of Horrors opened at the Virginia THeatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 372 performances. Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, 'Skid Row (Downtown)', 'Somewhere That's Green', and 'Suddenly, Seymour'.

Producers Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Barbara Whitman, Latitude Link, Dede Harris, Sharon Karmazin, and Howard and Janet Kagan have just announced that the La Jolla Playhouse production of the new American musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY will open Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street), following a preview period that begins Saturday, February 23, 2013. But almost 35 years later, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John have combined their iconic voices for This Christmas, available November 13 from Universal Music Enterprises. A true labor of love made specifically for 'the giving season,' Travolta and Newton-John will donate the artist proceeds from the album equally to their respective charities, the Jett Travolta Foundation and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Joshua Henry will join Amber Riley ("Glee"), Jared Grimes and Adriane Lenox in New York City Center's acclaimed production of Cotton Club Parade, returning for seven performances from November 14-18, 2012. (Mr. Henry replaces the previously announced Brandon Victor Dixon. Mr. Dixon is no longer available due to scheduling conflicts.) Conceived by Jack Viertel and presented under the auspices of City Center's Tony Award-winning Encores! series, Cotton Club Parade will once again be directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, with music direction by Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. The show will feature the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars under the direction of Daryl Waters.

The new musical FINDING NEVERLAND just premieredin Leicester on September 22, where it will run through October 13. The cast features Julian Ovenden as James Barrie, Rosalie Craig as Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, Liz Robertson as Mrs DuMaurier, and Clare Foster as Mary Barrie together with a cast of 20 and a live orchestra. Signature Theatre Company's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) production of GOLDEN CHILD by David Henry Hwang and directed by Leigh Silverman is now in rehearsal. 54 BELOW, is proud to announce that Tony Award winner Andrea Martin will play a three-night engagement of her show "Andrea Martin: Laughing Matters" at 54 Below October 9, 10 and 11 at 7PM. (Originally scheduled to appear at the venue last June, Martin was forced to postpone her engagement due to a bronchial infection.) Seth Rudetsky (Sirius XM Satellite Radio, The Ritz) will join Andrea at the piano.

Since Lon Chaney first wore the mask for silent film audiences in 1925, filmmakers and stage producers have been drawn to Gaston Leroux's novel, "The Phantom of the Opera." The Alhambra Theatre & Dining will open Phantom on October 10 with what director Todd Booth calls the theater's biggest, most lavish production ever. Phantom is presented by The Brumos Companies.
