Stages Theatre Company Presents DUCK FOR PRESIDENT, 9/21-10/21

By:

Stages Theatre Company (STC) launches its 2012-13 season with the world premiere of "Duck for President" (a New York Times #1 bestseller) by Doreen Cronin, opening Sept. 21 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. "Duck for President" directed by Marilee Mahler is a barnyard romp featuring Charles, the irresistibly funny duck, who decides to run for president. Adding an animal twist to this American tradition, Playwright Jennifer Kirkeby and Composer Shirley Mier combine to create an entertaining musical production that is full of recounts and sticky ballots. "There is humor, heart, laughs, great songs, a fantastic cast and crew, secret service wolves, and of course the show will help inform the audience who they should vote for during the next presidential election…DUCK!" says Kirkeby.

"Duck for President" opens Sept. 21 and ends Oct. 21, with a run time of 60 minutes and is suitable for all ages. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.stagestheatre.org for performance dates and times, or by calling the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for children (ages 5 to 17) and seniors (60+). Lap passes are available for free (ages 0 to 2) and $5 (ages 3 to 4).

STC is also hosting the first-annual Rock the Block event which is Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The event is free and features a bouncy house, DJ, Skateboard demos, concessions, cupcake decorating, face painting and games. Event sponsors include 3rd Lair Skatepark, American Girl, Lakeshore Weekly News and SuperValu.
