Vineyard Theatre (Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director and Sarah Stern, Co-Artistic Director) just announced a one-night-only reading of Becky Mode's acclaimed play FULLY COMMITTED - with Mark Setlock returning to his "sparkling tour de force" (NY Post) performance - which will benefit The Vineyard's productions and programs in 2012-2013. FULLY COMMITTED, the first in a series of special celebrations during the Vineyard's 30th Anniversary Season, will take place on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at The Vineyard (108 E. 15 St., between Irving Place and Union Square East). Decca Records/Universal Music announces the global signing of Franciscan Friar, Alessandro Brustenghi, from the original friary founded by Saint Francis of Assisi: the Porziuncola in Assisi. Alessandro is the first Friar in the history to land a major record deal. Voice From Assisi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od9BnmYuKZ8 is a mix of traditional and modern sacred songs, including an original track by Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor, set to a prayer written by St Francis of Assisi. When musing on his relationship with music, Friar Alessandro stated "God's gift was in my heart. When I woke up in the morning in my heart I heard melodies".

Palmetto Records recently released Tony Award winner and two-time Grammy nominee Betty Buckley's latest solo album, Betty Buckley: Ah, Men! The Boys of Broadway. Inspired by her critically acclaimed 2011 concert at Feinstein's at the Lowes Regency in New York City, Buckley reinterprets classic Broadway songs that were originally made famous by men. Buckley made an appearance at Barnes & Noble yesterday, where she sang 5 songs from her new album and did a Q&A with Seth Rudetsky. Check out photos from the event below!

Emmy-winning composer Jim Dooley and lyricist Mike Himelstein have written the score (Dooley) and the songs (Dooley & Himelstein) for the first video game musical: Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Epic Mickey 2 is the first video game to use songs to drive the story forward, and one of the lead characters (the mad doctor) only communicated via song. Signature Theatre Company's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) production of THE PIANO LESSON by August Wilson and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson is now in rehearsal. The production runs October 30 through December 9, 2012, with a November 18 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Producers Terry Schnuck, James & Catherine Berges, Crystal Beuerlein and Michael F. Neidorff will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Falling, the new play by Deanna Jent, that will begin an open-ended run Thursday September 27th at the Minetta Lane Theater (18 Minetta Lane, one block south of West 3rd Street, just off of Sixth Avenue). Appomattox, a sprawling political epic by Christopher Hampton taking place in 1865 and 1965 at the close of the American Civil War and the pivotal Civil Rights Era, opened Friday, October 5 at the Guthrie Theater to continue the Hampton Celebration. The play runs until November 11 on the Guthrie's McGuire Proscenium Stage, and is directed by David Esbjornson (Broadway/London: Driving Miss Daisy, A Few Good Men; Broadway: The Goat or Who is Sylvia?, The Ride Down Mt. Happy Birthday Marin Mazzie! Marin most recently starred in the off-Broadway revival of Carrie. Before that she led the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Next to Normal and in the Broadway production of Enron. She received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Lilli/Katharine in the hit revival of Kiss Me, Kate, and later received an Olivier Award nomination when she made her West End debut in the show. Drew Gehling and Jarrod Spector have just returned to the Broadway company of JERSEY BOYS. Spector returned to the role of 'Frankie Valli' on Tuesday, October 2, following the final performance of Tony winner John Lloyd Young on Sunday, September 30. Gehling assumes the role of 'Bob Gaudio' joining Jeremy Kushnier as 'Tommy DeVito' tonight, October 9, following the departure of Quinn VanAntwerp and Andy Karl (respectively) after the Sunday, October 7 performance.

PEEPSHOW, Las Vegas' only striptease spectacular, welcomes local starlet, co-star in E!'s "Holly's World" and featured "ABSINTHE" performer Angel Porrino, who will take on the guest starring role of "Bo Peep" from October 22-December 2, 2012. According to Cleveland.com, the Fairmount Center for the Arts might have to close due to a 'lack of funding.' An emergencey meeting will be held later this week, where the fate of the center will be discussed. In order for the Faimount Center to continue operations, $50,000 needs to be raised immediately.
