Miranda Keating - Page 3
Miranda has been a performing arts fanatic for as long as she can remember! Born and raised in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, she started performing with her local civic theater at the age of 8, and she has pursued her passion for the performing arts ever since. Miranda additionally adores teaching as much as she enjoys performing, and she has been teaching music lessons, dance classes, and theatre programs for years. In the spring of 2020, she graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Musical Theatre and Theatre Performance from North Central College in Naperville, IL. Miranda then completed an M.A. in Theatre Studies at the University of Houston in order to teach at the collegiate level, and she had so much joy getting to know the theatre scene through writing for BroadwayWorld Houston! She now lives in Madison, WI as a performing arts instructor and performer. When she is not in a classroom or on a stage, she enjoys running or watching her favorite TV shows of all time: "Friends", "New Girl", and "Modern Family"

Walking into one of the small, black box theater spaces at MATCH, all I knew was that I was about to watch a brand-new sketch musical about Drs. ROMEO AND JULIET…the classic love story of star-crossed lovers. To say that our culture is saturated with this tale is a fact that no one can deny. I could only imagine what a magic show would consist of…perhaps a few white rabbits, a deck of cards, and a fabulous dancer that gets cut in half. I went to the show with all these images in my mind, but due to a lack of experience, I ultimately had no expectations. To say that CHAMPIONS OF MAGIC exceeded what I was imagining is an understatement.

'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is arguably the most well-known comedic play in the world. Every production I have seen has had its own charm, but they all followed the story traditionally, making the same jokes and all trying to reach mimesis. Going to The Garden Theatre's production, I expected no different. However, I was pleasantly surprised...

THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL is presented with new life! The play reflects a comedy of errors that occurs after a false rumor is purposely spread. In a typical Restoration Comedy, you may expect wigs and quill pens, but this production uses minimal wooden set pieces, modern costumes, and a cast of 6 to tell the story, showcasing the company's creativity.
