The Philadelphia Orchestra celebrates its 30-year musical partnership with Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit in the 2010-11 season. Highlights of Mr. Dutoit's nine subscription weeks with the Orchestra include the 2010-11 Opening Night with violinist Joshua Bell; the U.S. premiere of James MacMillan's Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the Orchestra, with Vadim Repin; the world premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff's Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Jeffrey Khaner; and Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and tenor Paul Groves. Mr. Dutoit also leads the Orchestra in three performances at New York's Carnegie Hall and a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Extending her weekday Rush Ticket program, Metropolitan Opera Managing Director Agnes Varis will subsidize 13,600 seats for weekend performances for the 2010-11 season. The seats in the Orchestra and Grand Tier, ranging in price from $322 to $137, will be available for $25 through a weekly drawing. Entries for the weekly drawings to purchase the $25 seats will be available only at the Met's web site, www.metopera.org.

The Beat Project presents DEAR HARVEY, written by Patricia Loughrey, with original music by Thomas Hodges, musical direction and orchestrations by Wayne Moore and directed by Anthony Frisina. DEAR HARVEY will open on Thursday, September 16 at 8pm and run through Sunday, October 10th at the Lee Strasberg Theatre, 7936 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

P.J.S. Exhibitions, an emerging and eclectic W. Village grassroots gallery (238 W. 14th between 7th & 8th Ave.) presents 'Visions of Variety,' a collection of donated works benefiting the not-for-profit organization, Art for Healing NYC. The exhibit, opening Thursday, September 16th and running through October 10th, 2010 includes mixed-media pieces of various sizes and subjects contributed by an array of artists, companies and estates. New York native, keyboardist Greg Lewis performs at Teddy's Bar & Grill (96 Berry St., Brooklyn) on Wednesday, August 25th at 9PM. His CD, 'Organ Monk,' debuts on October 1st, which also feature Ron Jackson on guitar and Cindy Blackman on drums.

Indiana University photography Professor Jeffrey Wolin titled 'From All Sides: Portraits of American and Vietnamese War Veterans' at Lyon Septembre de la Photographie, an international biennial in Lyon, France, opening Sept. 9. The biennial will include the work of photographers from around the world, as well as performances by dancers in the evenings during the festival.

Mercury Baroque opens its 10th Season on October 9th with Exotique!, a special performance celebrating exotica in French Baroque music. The performance begins at 8:00pm in the Wortham Center, Cullen Theater and features the full Mercury Baroque orchestra, performing on period accurate instruments, under the direction of Maestro Antoine Plante. Pre-concert lecture with Dr. Yvonne Kendall begins at 7:15 in the Green Room. Old Courthouse Theatre (49 Spring Street SW, Concord) will hold auditions for THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER on Monday, October 4th and Tuesday, October 5th from 6:30 to 8:30PM. The performances will be from December 2nd to December 19th.

The Blue Elephant Theatre (59a Bethwin Road) in Camberwell presents the world premiere of THE CAVE from Tuesday, October 19th to Saturday, November 6th. The play was written by Mervyn Peake and will be directed by Aaron Paterson.
