Davidson Community Center Holds ONCE ON THIS ISLAND Auditions, 8/22 & 23

Davidson Community Center will hold auditions for actors and actresses in grades 6th through 12th for their production, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, on August 22nd and 23rd. The auditions on the 22nd will be at 2PM and the auditions on the 23rd will be at 7PM. Auditionees should arrive no later than 3PM and 8PM on each day, respectively. Both will be held at the Armour Street Theatre (307 Armour St., Davidson).

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is a highly original Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid. The original production garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the story of a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of her island.
Rehearsals begin the week of September 20, Production opens November 12 at the Armour Street Theatre. Melissa Ohlman-Roberge will be the director and Ryan Deal will be the musical director.

For the auditions, please prepare a song that shows off voice and range. Please bring sheet music in the proper key; an accompanist will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be prepared to move. A resume or a list of theatre experience and a recent picture is also asked to be brought as well as a list of conflicts for the September to November timeframe.
