On Tuesday night, Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s Lackawanna Blues debuted on Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street, NYC), following the theater going dark for 18 months during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After an 18-month long shutdown, four Broadway musicals re-opened last night, and one of them was the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking hit musical Chicago. Good news! Broadway's wonderful Wicked has made its highly anticipated return to the stage of the Gershwin Theatre. Composer Stephen Schwartz was in attendance at tonight's performance and joined the company for opening night bows, as was original Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth, who made a pre-show speech. The evening began with a special Ham4Ham performance from Lin-Manuel Miranda and various members of the cast. Then, go inside the theatre as Miranda gives opening remarks, and the cast takes its first bow back on stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre since March 2020.

Just last night, Atlantic Theater Company celebrated opening night of the World Premiere play The Last of the Love Letters. The Last of the Love Letters is written by and features Ngozi Anyanwu and is directed by Patricia McGregor. The Last of the Love Letters plays a limited engagement through Sunday, September 26th Off-Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street).

What do you do with the pieces of yourself people don't like? In this new theatrical stand-up show, Neal Brennan: Unacceptable, the comedian meticulously examines his own defects, attempting to understand his baffling inability to fit into a group and the alienation that comes along with it.

On September 2, Waitress celebrated its return to Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, and following in the great Broadway tradition, ensemble member Anastacia McCleskey was awarded the Legacy Robe.

Hadestown officially returned to Broadway last night for its first performance in more than 18 months. The sold-out audience led several ovations and a post-show celebration spilled out onto West 48th Street where the cast and band took to the fire escape of the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street) and led the crowd in celebratory jam session.

The hit musical Waitress is opening up once more this evening as Broadway continues its highly-anticipated return! To celebrate the return of live theatre at the Barrymore and beyond, New York Senator and Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, stopped in for a visit with the Waitress family.

Guests at the Majestic Theatre last night know that the show must go on! Theater director Sammi Cannold, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Dori Berinstein, WYSIWYG Studios, CEO Kwan-Woo Park and Elizabeth Armstrong, just premiered their new documentary film, The Show Must Go On. The film was presented in front of a live audience at the home of The Phantom of the Opera, the longest running show in Broadway history, to benefit and celebrate the work of The Actors Fund.
