Oprah Winfrey, Scott Sanders and the producing team of the Broadway smash hit THE COLOR PURPLE, The Musical about Love, are proud to announce that Mia mi will host the first North American touring production of THE COLOR PURPLE from Tuesday, October 27-Sunday, November 1 at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House in the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

Stage Door producers Derelle Bunn and David Torres brought in Mark Goodman, a Broadway orchestrator who had worked on such shows as 'Zorro' with Anthony Quinn, 'Mame' with Juliet Prowse, and 'Woman of the Year' with Lauren Bacall to recreate the orchestrations and write out the books for the musical parts. Meanwhile, director Dan Kelley painstakingly transcribed lyrics from old recordings.

The Waterfront Playhouse announces auditions for 'Stepping Out' by Richard Harris. The auditions will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 2 to 5pm at the Waterfront Playhouse, located in Mallory Square.

Thank the theatrical Gods that this production is a recreation of the Jerome Robbins original. I can not think of any production of any musical anywhere that comes close to what Mr. Robbins accomplished here around forty five years ago. I shall not be presumptuous and foolish and pick apart any individual pieces of 'Fiddler.' It was established decades ago by writers greater than I that Robbins' staging of 'Fiddler' was groundbreaking and established a new form of musical theater. Robbins' staging is indeed amazing.

Revisiting one of the great performances in the history of modern American musical theater, local theater devotees will have the opportunity to once again experience the brilliant TOPOL as he performs his Oscar-nominated role of Tevye in his farewell tour of the multi Tony Award-winning Broadway musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Playing Tuesday, October 6 through Sunday, October 18, FIDDLER marks the opening show of the Broadway Across America-Ft. Lauderdale 2009-2010 season which will present six-major musical productions presented by Florida Theatrical Association at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

His short film, Feet of Clay, directed by True Blood (HBO) actress Carrie Preston, made the rounds of festivals including Miami's Gay and Lesbian Film Festival '07.
