Beau Higgins - Page 174

Beau Higgins Currently spending his time between New York and Florida, Beau was born to a theatrical family in Brooklyn. He studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and at HB Studios. He studied theater singing with Julia Sperratore and Helen Gallagher. Beau later taught drama at the Lincoln Center Square for the Arts. It was at this time Beau began working with the Theater Development Fund and helped found New York's famed HALF PRICE TICKET BOOTH. Early in his career, Beau was screen tested and contracted for Warner Brothers. He co-hosted, an early cable variety series on Manhattan's Teleprompter channel. At this time he directed the Johnny Specca musical, SEX IS..? at the Lincoln Center Library Theater. Beau has performed Off-Broadway in FAT FELL DOWN, The Comic Strip Theater's LITTLE LULU AND THE INVISIBLE INK and WILL THE REAL ZOOPERMAN PLEASE STAND UP. Around the country he has delighted audiences with his performances in ANYTHING GOES, THE APPLE TREE, GUYS & DOLLS, and HELLZAPOPPIN! He sang for New York audiences at such cabarets as The Duplex and Upstairs at the Downstairs. He has had numerous television appearances but is most proud to have been a winning contestant on the game shows JACKPOT and THE $20,000 PYRAMID.

'Bubbling Brown Sugar' Sizzles At Broward Stage Door Theatre

Stage Door producers Derelle Bunn and David Torres brought in Mark Goodman, a Broadway orchestrator who had worked on such shows as 'Zorro' with Anthony Quinn, 'Mame' with Juliet Prowse, and 'Woman of the Year' with Lauren Bacall to recreate the orchestrations and write out the books for the musical parts. Meanwhile, director Dan Kelley painstakingly transcribed lyrics from old recordings.

Topol in 'Fiddler' - A Goose Bump Inducing Musical Miracle

Thank the theatrical Gods that this production is a recreation of the Jerome Robbins original. I can not think of any production of any musical anywhere that comes close to what Mr. Robbins accomplished here around forty five years ago. I shall not be presumptuous and foolish and pick apart any individual pieces of 'Fiddler.' It was established decades ago by writers greater than I that Robbins' staging of 'Fiddler' was groundbreaking and established a new form of musical theater. Robbins' staging is indeed amazing.

Damsel was read in the Bridge Theatre Company's new work series, as well as Visiting Hours, which was also a Finalist in the Premiere Stages New Play Festival and a Finalist for the Christopher Wolk Award at the Abingdon Theatre Company. He has had his plays produced at the Samuel Beckett Theatre in New York, the Tamarind Theatre in Los Angeles, Other awards and nominations include The Short Fall (2002 Finalist at the Lark), Love A Nurse (Finalist at the New Harmony Project), and his one-act, feet of clay (Finalist for the Heidemann Award at the Actors' Theatre of Louisville) won the 2004 Samuel French One-Act Competition and is published by Samuel French in its 29th Edition of Festival Plays. His short film, Feet of Clay, directed by True Blood (HBO) actress Carrie Preston, made the rounds of festivals including Miami's Gay and Lesbian Film Festival '07.

Most recently The Jove was awarded Best in Show and a Gold award at the 2009 ADDY Awards for a series of 7 commercials created for the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.
