Toner Announces Sophomore LP 'Silk Road,' Shares First Single
February 21, 2020

TONER was originally formed as a solo bedroom project by Samuelito Cruz in 2014. With interest from a few labels, Cruz was convinced to record a full-length record that came out in Spring of 2015 titled LP, recorded in the backyard shed of his mom's house. As a result of moving from West End (lower east bay) to Oakland, & the falling apart of his former band Happy Diving, Cruz decided to start playing live shows with a full band consisting of hometown friends Maxwell Carver, Sean Glass & Kennan Sommer. The band has maintained the same line-up since 2015 putting out two EPs Passing Glance & Killing Pace. Silk Road is the band's latest effort, their first studio album & sophomore full length consisting of 10 songs in barely over 20 minutes. It was produced & Engineered by David Kelling of Culture Abuse & Mixed/Mastered by Jasper Leach of Tony Molina Band. Silk Road is the defining release of the new sound of TONER as a transition from solo-bedroom pop to a blown out full band effort.

Out today and produced by Jonathan Rado (Father John Misty, Weyes Blood, Whitney), the sounds of Like New nod, at times, to a place in the past (like your favorite 70's AM), but they don't dwell there. Behind its golden sheen, however, lurk stories like the starry, piano-driven 'Giant Night'. Named after Anne Waldman's 1970 book of poems, watch the song's new black and white performance video.

But love also has a funny way of finding you when you least expect it, regardless of whether you're looking for it or not. With its soaring vocal harmonies, majestic strings and the band firing on all cylinders, this track really embodies and hints at all the sonic elements to come on the album.”

Sparta Releases New Track 'Empty Houses,' Announces More Tour Dates
February 21, 2020

Sparta are returning with a new album Trust The River on April 10 and today the El Paso band featuring Jim Ward shares a new single off the LP, “Empty Houses.' Of the track Ward notes, “Our bass player Matt Miller brought in the completed music and lyrical concept for 'Empty Houses' and I fell in love with it - I worked out the final lyrics and vocals pretty quickly in the studio with David Garza bouncing lines back and forth. The idea centers around the void left by the market crash and what became of the houses left vacant. We wanted to capture some of that anxiety and fear that must have surrounded those times and try to imagine how to cope.” Today's video was directed by Kris Pierce and you can watch it below.
