Melbourne Chamber Orchestra presents Overgrown Paths, a program blending music and poetry led by Artistic Director Sophie Rowell, who directs from the violin and performs as soloist in Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. Australian actor Helen Morse delivers Vivaldi's original sonnets as spoken narration woven throughout the music, and also narrates Libby Croad's Portraits for string orchestra, paired with poetry by Eleanor Percy. The program also includes Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade and selections from Leoš Janáček's On an Overgrown Path, arranged for string orchestra. Performances take place at Melbourne Recital Centre on 7 and 10 May 2026, with the Sunday performance coinciding with Mother's Day.
