Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Announces 2019 Music Lineup

The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar announces the music lineup for the 44th season, giving live music fans and holiday shoppers the place to enjoy 36 entertaining and diverse music acts from local classics to newcomers, running December 13-24, 11am-10pm through December 23 and 11am-8pm on Christmas Eve at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704. While shopping from nearly 200 artists for everyone on their holiday gift list, guests will enjoy the Armadillo Bazaar 2019 music lineup filled with award-winning local legends, touring musicians, and eight bands making their first appearance at the Armadillo over 12 days.
Austin Shakespeare Presents A New Production Of Homer's THE ODYSSEY

Six creative actors will bring to life scenes from the hero's epic adventures in Austin Shakespeare's new production of Homer's The Odyssey at the Long Center's Rollins Theatre. Daytime performances, Oct. 9-11 at 10 a.m., are designed for audiences in grades 6 to 12 and evening performances, Oct. 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. for families.

The Method Gun, created by Rude Mechs, returns to the Texas Theatre and Dance stage October 4-5, 2019 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre. The piece explores the life and techniques of Stella Burden, actor-training guru of the 1960s and 70s, whose sudden emigration to South America still haunts her most fervent followers. Burden's training technique, The Approach (often referred to as 'the most dangerous acting technique in the world'), fused Western acting methods with risk-based rituals in order to infuse even the smallest role with sex, death and violence.

Playing this month at the Georgetown Palace Theatre is DISNEY'S NEWSIES, a high voltage new musical about the newspaper strikes in New York City at the turn of the 20th century. The show follows a group of newspaper boys who are struggling to make enough to help feed their families. Prior to child labor laws, children of all ages did everything from hawk papers on street corners to deliver groceries or work in factories doing minimal paying tasks for pennies a day. Grueling work for kids but for families in dire financial situations the jobs were a godsend.
