Atlanta Chinese Dance Company’s “We Belong Here: Rising Against Asian Hate” showcases a collection of folk, classical, and contemporary Chinese dances celebrating our community’s humanity. The production culminates in a new work inspired by past and present Asian American civil rights movements, featuring Chinese dance choreography by Kerry Lee, artwork by Thai-Indonesian artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, and a guest performance by Atlanta’s multicultural chorus Trey Clegg Singers. The program will also feature a signature work of internationally renowned choreographer Nai-Ni Chen inspired by her childhood memories in Taiwan and many dances representing various regions and time periods in China.
Atlanta Chinese Dance Company is celebrating the humanity of the Chinese community and amplifies the history and solidarity of past and present Asian American civil rights movements through an original production We Belong Here: Rising Against Asian Hate on April 15-16 at Gas South Theater.
