Eddie Sarfaty's MENTAL Set For 11/10 At Actor's Express

By:

Eddie Sarfaty's MENTAL Nov. 10 at Actor's Express. On Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 8 p.m., Atlanta goes mental when Actor's Express presents comedian and author Eddie Sarfaty in a hilarious evening of stand-up comedy, MENTAL: An Evening of Homo-Neurotic Comedy.

Presented by gayatlantaonline.com, the performance benefits the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, and celebrates the release of Eddie's new book, Mental: Funny in the Head. Tickets for the show are available online for $20 at actors-express.com or at 404-607-7469.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Eddie will read excerpts from Mental: Funny in the Head and autograph copies of the book at Outwrite Bookstore beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Eddie Sarfaty has appeared on NBC's Today Show, on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and on Logo's stand-up show, Wisecrack. He was featured at Montreal's Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and is one of the subjects of the documentary, Laughing Matters. Candid and caustic, Eddie Sarfaty is a natural storyteller, and his rapier wit effortlessly captures the everyday absurdities of life, blending self-deprecation and sarcasm with a razor-sharp instinct for the ridiculous. The Huffington Post calls him a "comedic genius."

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force builds the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community by training activists, equipping state and local organizations with the skills needed to organize broad-based campaigns to defeat anti-LGBT referenda and advance pro-LGBT legislation. The Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus provides high-quality professional performances in order to affirm the contributions -- and advance a positive image -- of the gay and lesbian community.

Mental: Funny in the Head (Kensington Press) finds Eddie Sarfaty lovingly skewing his dazzlingly dysfunctional family -- whether recounting a family European vacation, where his ailing father shouts obscenities at the Mona Lisa, or discovering his mother surfing JewHunt.net in search of a mahjong á trois. Mental also has Eddie turning the spotlight on his own misadventures with equal glee, including a disastrous summer in Portugal working on a knock-off production of The Phantom of the Opera, and an unfortunate decision to jump a subway turnstile in New York City that ends in a night of hell and near electrocution.
