In 2006, New Orleans' mayor planned to celebrate Hurricane Katrina's ?rst anniversary with a comedy hour which was canceled due to public outrage. Could he have meant "Comedy" in the classic sense?

On this 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, experience the World Premiere of The Hurricane Katrina Comedy Festival at the renowned SoHo Playhouse for the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival.

Woven together from heartbreaking and hilarious interviews with five New Orleanians who rode out the storm's danger then the insanity of the evacuation, Crescent City playwright Rob Florence laces their gripping words into a tale of strength, community and hope. First presented as short form monologues to sold-out houses throughout New Orleans,
The Hurricane Katrina Comedy Festival intertwines these stories for the first time and introduces us to a cast of legendary and uproarious real-life characters spearheaded by "The Empress" of Treme, Antoinette K-Doe.

Led by director Dann Fink, the company of Broadway veterans includes Evander Duck (Fences; Two Trains Running), Gary Cowling (Sopranos, The Accidental Husband), Philip Hoffman (A Catered Affair; All in the Timing), LizAnn Mitchell (Having Our Say; Electra), Maureen Silliman (Blue Window; Shenendoah), .

With credits ranging from Broadway to the Metropolitan Opera the creative team includes Lighting Supervision by Phil Monat, Scenic Design by Stephen Dobay, Costumes by Nicole J. Smith, Sound and Projections by Emma Wilk and Projection Production by Shannon K. Hall.
