Seinfeld's Jason Alexander is currently directing Neil Simon's semiautobiographical play BROADWAY BOUND at the Odyssey Theatre. Alexander originated the role of "Stanley" in the original Broadway production of the play. The Odyssey's production opened earlier this week and will run for eight weeks. The recently confirmed revival of 1997 musical SIDE SHOW released its poster art this week! The revival will star Erin Davie and Emily Padgett as conjoined twins, Violet and Daisy Hilton, the highest-paid vaudeville act of their time. Based on a true story, the show will open on Monday, November 17th at the St. James Theatre. Click here to read more!

The Public Theatre's summer series Shakespeare in the Park is back with its second production of 2014, KING LEAR. The star-studded cast features Broadway veteran John Lithgow as Lear, as well as Tony nominees Annette Bening ("The Kids Are All Right") as Goneril and Jessica Hecht ("A View from the Bridge," "Breaking Bad") as Regan. This famous Shakespearean tragedy will run through August 17th. All performances are free! Click here to see more photos from opening night!

Constantine Maroulis, made famous during his stint on "American Idol" is returning to Broadway's long-running hit ROCK OF AGES in a limited twelve-week engagement. On returning to the production where he originated the role of Drew and earned a Tony nomination, Maroulis said, "I'm coming home." Click here to see more photos of Maroulis' homecoming!

Broadway legend Chita Rivera is currently starring in Williamstown Theatre Festival's THE VISIT, running through August 17th. Joining Rivera is Tony winner Roger Rees ("The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby"), Jason Danieley ("Curtains"), Judy Kuhn ("Fun Home," "LES MISERABLES"), and many cast members returning to WTF. The Off-Broadway production of PHOENIX began performances on July 28th, with an official opening last night, August 7th, at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Starring Julia Stiles and James Hirt, the dark romantic comedy that premiered in 2010 is set to run through Saturday, August 23rd. Click here to see more photos from the opening night celebration!

The new musical RED EYE OF LOVE will make its New York premiere at the end of the month at the Dicapo Opera Theatre. Based on Arnold Weinstein's 1961 play, the musical features a book and lyrics by Arnold Weinstein and John Wulp as well as music by Sam Davis. In memory of the late Broadway legend Elaine Stritch, several performers gathered together last night at the Metropolitan Room to honor the actress with renditions of the songs that made her famous. "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "Why Do the Wrong People Travel" were among the numbers that were performed. Broadway favorites Annaleigh Ashford and Tony Danza were just two out of the many performers.
