The Public Theater first fell in love with the work of Chilean writer-director Guillermo Calderón when his play, Diciembre was performed at Under the Radar 2011. This spring, the theater has invited him back as part of its regular season for the English Language Premiere of his new play, NEVA (March 1 -31). Click below to hear Artistic Director Oskar Eustis' thoughts on the upcoming production of NEVA and Calderón as an increasingly important international artist.

A playwright and director based in Santiago, Chile, Guillermo Calderón's plays have been presented in 25 countries and at festivals around the world, including our own Under the Radar Festival, Chekhov Festival in Moscow, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This spring's production of NEVA marks his English language debut.

Use code EARLY and see NEVA for just $49. To book, click here, call 212-967-7555, or visit The Public Theater Box Office at 425 Lafayette Street. Box Office Hours: Sun-Mon 1-6PM, Tue-Sat 1-7:30PM.

NEVA tells the story of Anton Chekhov's widow, the actress Olga Knipper, who arrives in a dimly lit rehearsal room in St. Petersburg in the winter of 1905. As Olga and two other actors await the rest of the cast, they huddle together, act out scenes from their lives and muse on their art form and love - while, unseen, striking workers are being gunned down in the streets by Tsarist regime.
