SILVER FOXES to Make West Coast Premiere at Revolution Stage Company
Patrick Bristow and Michael Corbett star in the Stan Zimmerman-directed LGBTQ+ dramedy.
The Revolution Stage Company will present the West Coast premiere of James Berg & Stan Zimmerman's Silver Foxes, for eight performances starting May 21 at the RSC's intimate Off-Broadway-like theatre in downtown Palm Springs. Silver Foxes is directed by Zimmerman, who with James Berg wrote the play. Their previous writing credits include The Golden Girls, Roseanne & Gilmore Girls.
Zimmerman has assembled a remarkable cast of performers for the RSC production. The play, set in Palm Springs, centers on the 'chosen family' of two older gay men played by Patrick Bristow ('Ellen', 'Showgirls') and Michael Corbett (Broadway and Daytime TV star). They are joined on stage by Jon Morehouse, who originated the role of 'Cecil,' Chicago's Zachary Feuling as 'The Twink' and acclaimed local actress, Melanie Blue, sharing her unique talent playing various characters.
When Chuck and Benny (two 60ish ex-lovers) discover their dear friend Cecil has been forced back into the closet while living in a homophobic assisted living facility, they band together to rescue him. Along with their buddy's younger 'Twink' lover, they create a new home, navigating modern life with humor and heart. Critics have called Silver Foxes campy, sassy and poignant, a 'joke-packed dramedy,' comically tackling issues like growing old in the LGBTQ+ community, homophobia, online dating/hookup apps and the importance of creating loving supportive families when traditional families are absent.
Silver Foxes plays May 21-May 31 with performances Thursday and Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 8 pm, plus Sunday at 2 pm.
