In commemoration of Black Music Month and for providing all Americans with the transformative power of the freedom of expression, New York City Council Member Larry Seabrook will honor the cast and crew of Shrek The Musical with a Proclamation on the steps City Hall on Tuesday June 30 at 1.00pm.

"Our nation's creativity has filled the world's libraries, museums, recitAl Halls, cinemas, market places and our theaters with outstanding works. American theater and the arts are empowered by our innate freedom and embody the American spirit of self-determination. This talent and award winning cast has made an indelible contribution to Broadway and to our world community." stated Councilman Seabrook.

Shrek The Musical is an entirely new musical adaptation, based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek, as well as the Dreamworks animated film Shrek. "I want to congratulate the entire Broadway cast of Shrek The Musical. They are without doubt deserving of this Proclamation and recognition." concluded Councilman Seabrook.

Shrek The Musical recently received a Tony Award for Best Costume Design. Its cast members - Brian D-Arcy James, Sutton Foster, Christopher Sieber, Daniel Breaker, John Tartaglia, Cameron Adams, Haven Burton, Jennifer Cody, Ben Crawford, Bobby Dave, Ryan Duncan, Sarah Jane Everman, Aymee Garcia, Leah Greenhaus, Justin Greer, Lisa Ho, Chris Hoch, Dannette Holden, Marty Lawson, Jacob Ming-Trent, Carolyn Ockert-Haythe, Marissa O'Donnell, Denny Paschall, Rachel Rescheff, Greg Reuter, Adam Riegler, Noah RiveraHeather Jane Rolff, Jennifer Simard and Rachel Stern- have received countless awards for their outstanding accomplishment in theatre and arts.

Councilman Seabrook will present the Proclamation during a ceremony on the steps of City Hall on June 30 at 1.00pm.
