Ricky Martin, the Latin singer whose songs dominated the charts in the late 90s and early 2000s and will be returning to Broadway in next spring's revival of EVITA, was a guest star on "The View" this morning. In the appearance, the 39 year old - who made his Broadway debut as Marius in the original production of Les Misérables - discussed the career move.

"I will be doing Che in Evita," he told the show's hosts. "I'm looking forward to it, I'm very happy."

Earlier this week, he also discussed the role and what it means for his life with Billboard.com, noting that "EVITA is a classic, and the opportunity is huge career-wise." He went on to say that "After a one-year tour [in support of his new album, "MAS (Musica + Alma + Sexo)"] I think that the stability of Broadway will be great for my kids and me."

Over the course of his two decade solo career, Martin has now sold over 55 million albums and performed to sold-out stadium and arena audiences throughout the world. Declared "an international pop icon and Latin Music's Global Ambassador" by Billboard and recognized by the Latin Recording Academy as it's youngest "Person of the Year" honoree, Martin has been the recipient of dozens of prestigious international awards saluting both his musical achievements and far-reaching philanthropic efforts. As essential a part of his persona as his love of performing, Martin is equally dedicated to extensive charitable work through the efforts of the Ricky Martin Foundation - which advocates for the well being of children around the globe in critical areas such as social justice, education and health. Recently, The RMF has also deepenEd Martin's long-standing support of Habitat for Humanity by becoming a principal partner in their rebuilding efforts in Haiti.

Martin concluded his discussion of his upcoming Broadway stint by saying, "I'll be able to take [my kids] to school, and in the evenings I'll take the stage from 7-10 p.m. Life is wonderful, isn't it?"

For Martin, and those looking forward to EVITA, it certainly seems that it will be.
